Jimcalagon
I've got a Nokia 3600 slide locked to the Tesco network and I need it unlocking. I've been in touch with a couple of people/places locally who have quoted me silly prices. Can anyone out there unlock one of these?
immortalpuppet
Edit: Its early, i read it as a 6300 please ignore.

Thankfully Immortal Puppet has told me about a neat bit of kit called SIMable which can let you use your own sim card in a locked 3g phone and seems to be the answer to my problem

Jimcalagon
what model? As mentioned above, it's a Nokia 3600 Slide (which is quite different from the original Nokia 3600).
devil
Ahh right! sorry yeah your's is bb5 locked, you can unlock them! but nowhere does them for free that I can see.
immortalpuppet
Simable: much cheeper way of unlocking BB5 and other hardlocked devices. Online postal services will unlock most BB5 phones for around £25, i have been told on Island people are charging as much as £45 which is a joke if you have the right equipment (the box or th dku 5 cable and D`s unlocking software.) I know a couple of people who use simable and other devices and they work very well, its not the answer for everyone but rather than being ripped off by idiot local unlockers (not the people that do it at home, the ones that work for a company.) Its a good alternative.
Gladys
I have used the fonefunshop. They do the slide and charge £25.
Jimcalagon
Got the SIMable last night, installed it as per instructions. Result - Nothing. Phone seems to see there's a sim car in (but doesn't ask for the pin) and won't even pick up a signal.

immortalpuppet
You cant "brick" a phone using a sim redirect.
