Windows 7 Launch Party

I like Charlie Brooker. And I particularly liked this article.

Windows 7 is nearly upon us and in one of the most naff and cringeworthy ideas Gates Marketing has ever come up with they suggest you hold a "Windows 7 Launch Party" where you demonstrate and promote it's "virtues". It really is awful, nearly as bad as the "We're the Poor Acting family and this is us freezing to death on a beach in our Isle of Man".

Gird up your loins before watching

Have a bucket ready as well....

Hi,

We're having a party to launch www.shopiom.com.

It's a real fun event and there'll be lots of really cool things happening.

Even my cats joining in and he's made a model of the website from his tin of whiskas.

For some reason this version made me laugh

Likewise - I suspected their motives were not simply based around Windows 7.

Interesting though, I've seen a few comments saying Microsoft produced something so crap, so cheesey - in the knowledge that it would be picked up on, modified, dubbed etc - all helping to promote Windows 7. I mean, if it was a formal introduction to Windows 7, how many would watch it?

(Still, I suspect it was a genuine attempt).
