immortalpuppet
Hello I have managed to stash around £1k from the missus to spend on a new PC. I am fairly comfortable in putting things together but I am not that bothered paying a little extra for a pre built PC. It's been a few years since I have bought a new machine and previously I have used overclockers and scan. My question is are there any better sites to use for a PC system or bundles or are overclockers just about the best?
Twonky
I stopped using Overclockers when I saw the proof of the racism of its former owner, I'd heard about it over the years, but never seen the evidence. I just regret having spent so much money with them over the years. I use Ebuyer for everything parts-wise now. For a complete system Chillblast are a good bet, and they don't work out much more expensive than buying all the bits and building yourself. This is the current PC Pro A List choice for a high-end PC, exactly a grand! http://www.chillblast.com/Chillblast-Fusion-Thunderbird.html If you want to spend a bit less, they're knocking out capable gaming PCs for around the £700 mark. http://www.chillblast.com/Chillblast-Fusion-Vector-Gaming-PC.html

Twonky
I've spent a pretty penny with OCUK over the years Twonky, interested to know what you meant.. The founder of Overclockers, Mark Proudfoot, is a dreadful homophobic racist. I'd heard rumours of it over the years but never seen any proof, so decided on balance to keep shopping with them, after all, it could just have been bad blood from a competitor, the rumour mill, man in the pub bollocks, and all that sort of thing. However, a few years ago the entire contents of the hidden moderators forum at the OCUK Forums (the 'Dons Room') were released by an ex-moderator, and revealed gems like the post below. There's also stuff like him calling people down as 'faggot lovers' if they don't go along with his homophobic comments, and so on. 'Spie' is Mark Proudfoot and as you can see he has something of a gangster/Maggie/Enoch Powell fetish. There's loads more out there, just Google variations of Spie/Mark Proudfoot/racist/homophobe and so on. OCUK Dons Room yields some good results too. Jools
I used http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ earlier this year to buy a new PC. I'd never used them before but I can highly recommend them now. Their customer service is top notch and I knew what they were doing from the moment they took my order to the moment it arrived at my door. They offer some pre-built systems but I'd recommend using the custom option to configure a computer to suit your needs since they build it and test it thoroughly and you can get exactly what hardware you want, if you want to that is. If you just want a bundle to build on I usually recommend http://www.novatech.co.uk/ - my 2 previous PC's were both built from bundles and parts bought from there and I've never had a problem. They have some decent motherboard and barebones bundles to get you started. Hope that helps!

IOMRS97
I used Ebuyer for my last two self-builds and found them very good.

scarbunny
Still the MD from what I can see. Although if they are cheaper than the alternative for the same items I'll still use them.
Manxman27
I also recommend http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ I got a PC from them in 2009 and not had any problems with it, in fact only just realised it was that old as still seems new to me, handles anything I throw at it. Also for components and bundles I've used http://www.novatech.co.uk/ and http://www.awd-it.co.uk/ when building or upgrading my home theatre PC. Twonky
Twonky: He's a shitbag, by all means, but if he's only the ex-owner why does it stop you using them now? As scarbunny has pointed out, he's still part of the company (in some sort of titular figurehead role I believe) as are the original founders. http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2012/02/10/case_king_buys_overclockers/ There's a picture of Proudfoot and one of the other original founders knocking around somewhere, you could not imagine a more chavved up bling pair in your worst nightmares.
