Lisenchuk
Amazing that. Even more amazing is just how obviously globular Earth looks at what is really not that far up. It's an optical illusion due to fisheye lens, the earth is actually flat

WTF
Confirmed speed - 833.9MPH!!! And I hadn't realised the old bloke who was talking him through the check list was Joe Kittinger, who did the jump in 1960 and who still hold the freefall time record. What he did today was incredible, but to thing back over 50 years and to do similar without all the analysis, prediction, and technology thats available now was something else. Both these men are far far braver than I could ever be. incredible stuff, can someone explain how a man in a suit can jump to earth from the edge of space and not burn up yet space craft reach extremely high temps with the friction of the atmosphere?? i guess they are travelling faster, but why don't they come back slower and just drop in like felix?? Baumgartner was high but not nearly as high as when space craft re-enter the atmosphere. The space shuttle was doing about mach 25 when it re-entered the atmosphere as well. slinkydevil
What happened to the capsule? I'm sure it will soon be in a hanger at Jurby for us all to gawp at, as we launch the 'Balloon trips to edge of Space Industry'.
