Benefits office closes after health and safety review

Everyone deserves a safe work environment. And I can sort of see why an incident in Ramsey would lead to a closure of an office at the other end of the Island... risk assesments and all that... but that does lead one to beg the question why the risk assesment had not been done before the incident... at the other end of the Island.

Anyway, wither it be bus fares or parking fees/ fuel duty... this seems to me to be a good ploy to recirculate Government money back into Government coffers... rather than be spent on VAT free things such as food.

cos they used an event 25 miles away as an excuse to save money.

So once again, the bad behaviour of the (hopefully) very few, affect the lives of the well behaved many.

I'm getting weary of seeing the ever increasing number of inconveniences imposed upon law abiding souls because of the bad behaviour of aggressive ill-bred oiks.

/rant over for now

On one thread there are people going on about health and safety not being followed here we have the powers that be decide that the place isn't a safe environment should there be a kick off and people still complain.

And if they put in extra staff they be flamed even more.

He said the JSA claimants were expected to travel to the Job Centre in Douglas regularly and so there would be no additional expense to sign on at the same time.
‘We expect job seekers to take reasonable steps to look for work. We would expect them not just to be sitting at home but to be in the Job Centre at least once a week. We will take into consideration the time it takes to travel into Douglas.’

If only there was some way to check for jobs that didn't involve having to travel an hour on a bus to look at some index cards pinned to a wall at the job center. Maybe some sort of technological wizardry could help, like a website.... http://www.gov.im/ded/jobcentre/
