A member state cannot ignore EU Law otherwise there would be no point in passing oodles of EU Law.

Yes they can.  There might be sanctions or repercussions, but they can be ignored.

You know, that sovereignty thing that Brexiteers keep banging on about.

"Given the doctrine of Parliamentary sovereignty in the UK, meaning that there are no limits on what Acts can be passed or removed, it might be possible for Parliament to contradict EU laws. But this would seem incompatible with continued membership of the EU."

But but but --- if there will be sanctions surely that means that EU law can't be ignored?

Once Turkey was granted accession to the EU (heaven forfend) there would be an upsurge from Turkey and not only Turkish nationals.

Turkey hasn't been granted accession to the EU though and it doesn't appear very likely any time soon.

I don't think Turkey would be joining anytime in the next ten years.

"We hold all the cards"

But we do!

If push comes to shove we can, and hopefully WILL just walk away.  WE have no NEED of a deal prior to walking away and if/when we do would/will put us into a very much stronger position to negotiate ongoing relationships.

Farage did not say when the Turkish problem would hit us, just that it would when, and it will be when, Turkey is allowed in.  We MUST be out and so isolated by then.

I guess there's every chance we will find out.

After all, it is the desired state of Johnson's backers....

It really doesn't work this way.

It really should and untill Theresa May supported by the 1922 Committee started obstructing the democratic process could and should have done.  Then that traitor from a line of traitors - Benn - introduced his defacto blocking bill that really screwed the whole process up because in effect it handed control to the EC which all but killed BREXIT stone dead.
