What will happen to the old Whitestone Garage Site ?

What will happen to the old Whitstone Garage site, now that they have sold out to Jackson`s ?

With the size parking there, and the size of the property, it would have made a good retail site, Tesco Express/ Shoprite, however, if the bypass goes ahead then there would be little passing trade, so what could it be used for  ?

Just been reading about it in the Indy (P3). Vacated virtually overnight, leaving Malew Commissioners shocked at the speed of the exit. Owners declined to comment at Indy's queries re the site's future.

Big patch of concrete and weeds then? Maybe a bit too open and public for dogging?

Apart from the felt museum, what else could it be used for ?

Parking for the Castletown Shopping Centre,  Re-devolpment by Dandare, airport parking, Southern Division of Goverment Offices, Old Peoples Home, Charging centre for Electric Cars, Petrol Station, Skate Board Park, ?

it was a petrol station at one point,  no use having another one there again when there is another one a few hundred yards away.  it will be apartments eventually.

It’s called the Jacksons effect. Another site freed up for development because the franchise rights passed to Jackson’s on the IOM Business Park. Same as the new drive in KFC on Peel Road which was formerly Eurocars. It’s freeing up lots of sites to be better capitalized on.

The same could be said about the "Spar" Airport garage, that was a petrol station for many years and closed down, then re-opened very many years later, not that far from the Station Garage, or S and S motors ?

Man in pub yesterday, says Mylcreests, Ocean Ford, and Kirk Micheal Motors, will soon follow suit, is this a monopoly ?

Mylchreests and Ocean Ford are sound, KM don't have a franchise so should be fine. The harsh reality of doing business on the IoM will kick in for Jackson's sooner or later.

There's something distinctly iffy about the whole Jacksons setup. I wonder how long they will last, unless it is some kind of money laundering operation I would not give it more than 2 years.

I have not been to see it, and don't propose to but driving round the roundabout going to B&Q it does not look like it is buzzing with customers
