Health & travel insurance

Recommended Posts

I’ve been with AXA ( AXAPPP and before that PPP )for 25 years.

policy covers me and my partner, and has an bolt on travel policy.

We've both got existing conditions which are covered, but probably won’t be if we move.

I was mugged in Sofia last August. Lost some IT gear, wallet, passport, odds and ends.

Reported to police.

Claim made 15 September. All documents submitted. They’ve been slow and incompetent. They’ve chased for one invoice repeatedly. It was sent at the start and I’ve sent it 3 times since.

Got a phone call last Tuesday, again asking for it. I patiently took the call centre worker through each e-mail it had been attached to. She found it on each. Promised a call back from the claims handler later on Tuesday.  Needless to say I’ve not heard back and I’ve now lodged a complaint.

Everything missing has been replaced, that was done as soon as I got back to IoM. New ipad, phones, passport ( emergency and full ), kindle.

They were poor when Paul had his brain haemorrhage, useless about my leukaemia - both were covered but they were spectacularly unhelpful. And the only time I’ve had a health issue abroad I had to organise myself and claim back as getting through was impossible.

Starting to think it may be best to just cancel and save the cash.

But I would want to keep a travel policy as Paul does winter sports and I would want basic medical cover and repatriation for us both.

Any recommendations for alternative cover.

I had a tortoise in the garden.   It was old when I last saw it.  Not seen it for 20 something years now.  My toothbrush is blue (the colour, not it's state of mind, although, to be honest, I've not asked it if it has any problems).

May be worth giving Avanti a try. I’ve got pre existing conditions cover ( they promote the fact they do it.) Fortunately not had to claim so can’t say how they would do if I had to, but they seem pretty good on admin.

I could help you there but I don’t want a private pm , are they safe? Can I post a telephone number. Probably not as you’d need a name. Maybe I could post a web address. They specialise in old codgers like me and are good at special conditions. After all I am anyone and want to remain so. Thing is I’ve never had to claim so have no idea how they’d be in a crisis so they might just be as bad as the shower you have now.

Well that’s useless. Why bother posting. Why can’t you message on here? What’s wrong with phoning me, number withheld, my number is listed, I use my own name, you can just say you’re anyone off MF. FFS paranoia!

They are all nice until you have to claim..:-(

I complained last Thursday. Got phone call apologising, and negotiating compensation for delay and incompetent claims handling, yesterday. Confirmed by e-mail today.

im told my claim will be finalised this week, money with me next week.

Calm down.  I could post a telephone number and name on here (it’s a business after all )  but as I said I’ve never had to make a claim so they might be as bad as you have  now as they are only a broker. But as you say why bother posting.

Well at least you got some sort of acknowledgement ( rude  though it was) for your effort in trying to assist!
