  1. FFS stop trying to play it down! There's nothing to be gained by doing that. The rockets are getting bigger and better all the time... Then there's the Hamas assault. Play that down if you will...
  2. The "Iron Dome" system is very effective. But now everyone knows it can be overwhelmed...
  3. Especially as they kill and injure folks...
  4. After the aid workers clusterfuck - everybody!
  5. That entirely depends on the level of risk. Which is why I posted the question you don't want to answer...
  6. Well Dapple, how would you estimate risk in a conflict against an insurgency?
  7. Well Sancho, they're just guidelines and looking at the figures they're certainly not at the top end so stop behaving as though they are.
  8. No. I just used the facts. It's called living in Realty Land. You should try it...
  9. That doesn't mean they are going to though, does it? And the figures show It's nothing like! We all know you're desperate to diss Israel and plug your never-going-to-happen single state so-called "solution" but you should at least try and keep it real. Yeah, I know, dream on...
  10. I do have doubts about it. Simply put how could the system possibly know how many folks are in a given building at a given time? Especially when so many moved further and further south as the IDF campaign gained momentum. Of course, all the decisions are moved up the food chain for a decision from folks who will no doubt remain anonymous. "Given that Israel claims there are ~30,000 Hamas members, those guidelines would permit them to see the killing of between 495,000 and all of the civilians in Gaza as acceptable." I ran the numbers when the "genocide" nonsense was doing the rounds and it came to about 1% of the population. Which is bad enough in itself. But it puts the lie to your rubbish figures...
  11. ‘The machine did it coldly’: Israel used AI to identify 37,000 Hamas targets Israeli intelligence sources reveal use of ‘Lavender’ system in Gaza war and claim permission given to kill civilians in pursuit of low-ranking militants https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/apr/03/israel-gaza-ai-database-hamas-airstrikes Scary stuff...
  12. Nobody took it on as a going concern. Which means an almost total reliance on imports. Noa excluded of course. We bake our own bread (chuck the ingredients in the breadmaker, switch it on, walk away...) and found that Laxey Mills flour was the best we ever used. With no Shoprite will Tesco, with their reputation of commanding the lowest possible buying in prices, be stocking Laxey Mills product?
  13. It's the "poisoned chalice" of politics...
  14. "The unacceptable face of capitalism" as Edward Heath accidentally put it when he was struggling to read his Downing Street brief due to a hatred of wearing his glasses... It seems the Tynwald response to anything labelled "strategic" is to gleefully throw taxpayers money at it. Lots of it... It's quite a litany of badly spent "strategic" money: MEA, IRIS, Airport, Half Tide Dock, Manxman etc. Of course, food should be top of any strategic list but they're clearly happy to let Tesco deal with that one. Hence the demise of Ramsey Bakery...
  15. Dear me but that's poor even by your lamentably low standards.
  16. Frankly after the first strike it was bloody stupid to continue until the situation had been made clear! Harsh but fair... It's not exactly "news" either: John Simpson: journalists 'taking a hammering' https://www.theguardian.com/media/2003/apr/09/broadcasting.bbc So the reality is it always happens and no doubt will continue to do so...
  17. You can't dismiss something that has happened. But you can explain it. The vehicles were deliberately targetted because the IDF acted on faulty intelligence. That should be obvious even to the likes of @HeliX and @TheTeapot The comms are a mess. The reason they are a mess is simple. The IDF say they have proof that aid agencies are infiltrated by Hamas and/or their supporters i.e. pretty much any Palestinian you care to mention. Therefore not only will the IDF not give them any direct access to their communication systems, which would be sheer folly, but everything that does come through "other means" as It's called will have to be verified before they will act upon it. Obviously this not only adds a delay but it also increases the chances of a misunderstanding. In other words things get lost in translation. Also military comms VP is structured in such a way that it avoids any room for confusion and consequently takes a lot of training and practice. So It's not something civilians will have. After all, how much VP training does a TT Marshall get? So it is, unfortunately, pretty much inevitable over time...
  18. Hamas deliberately put civilians in harms way. The IDF drop leaflets telling them to evacuate the target area and despite being perfectly mobile they still stay put. Explain why that is...? The terrible press this episode is receiving tells me It's a "fog of war" fuckup. To expect none to happen is naive in the extreme. But then that's you all over... Incidentally I hate cats...
  19. Sure, as Netanyahu has admitted, it's a fuckup. I mean, if it was deliberate what could Israel possibly gain from it? All Israel will get for it is grief that they don't need. You're so blinded by your prejudices you just don't think these things through, do you...?
  20. @Sheldon I don't tell lies. I have no need to. From your link: "Footage shows burned buildings at al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, two weeks after it came under siege by Israeli troops. "The Hamas-run health ministry and witnesses who spoke to the BBC said the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have pulled out of the territory's biggest hospital. "The raid happened after Israel said it had intelligence indicating Hamas was using the hospital as a base to launch attacks. "Hamas has denied using medical sites to carry out military operations." Is that the same hospital where footage showed hostages being taken through? Just watched the Beeb reporting some aid workers have been killed in a strike on a convoy. Netanyahu has admitted it was in error. The problem is that wars are fought by people and people fuck up. Apparently comms are a mess.
  21. The only rocket that hit a hospital that I'm aware of was fired by Islamic Jihad.
