  1. £1.5m horse stables and £600k tram shed and another several hundred thousand on the rusty trams.
  2. It's unbelievable that they're still running the bloody horse trams while the TT Course is closed and the Promenade dug up! They're even using a stop/go sign to stop all traffic at the bottom of Summer Hill so the bloody thing can trundle through empty!
  3. The whole thing is just mental. £80m with no costed business case behind it. They want to bring people to travel on buses, trains and trams that lose money hand over first, on ships that pollute the environment. Why?
  4. If we did then the private sector would have this covered and there would be no need for taxpayers cash.
  5. Should you be posting on here in work time?
  6. There's a shit ton of written questions about the Prom that various MHKs have submitted for today's "sitting" of Tynwald. They should be up online later.
  7. I love that people act like they truly believe the Island has a lot to offer. It's great that people are proud of where they live. But really the Island has little to offer that can't be found elsewhere. Glens and walks? You can do them anywhere. Viking and motorsport heritage? Weak, there's a few stuffy old museums and plaques on the top of some random hills. The Victorian transport you can find in North Wales. Orkney already had a deepwater berth from servicing the oil and gas industry. Something that's worth millions to their economy. There's less than no chance that the investment in a new berth will wash its face financially... if you were talking about building a new berth that would be used 3 or 4 times a day by the ferry for 364 days of the year then fair enough. But this thing will be used maybe 10 times a year at best. It's bonkers.
  8. At least the Airport allows us to escape from the sheer madness of it all on the rare occasions we can afford to! The Cruise Ship Terminal is just a massive folly that will severe nobody apart from a couple of ships once or twice a year. The rest would have been able to dock here anyway.
  9. £500k seems a fair investment for Belfast. But then they have so much more to offer visitors than the Isle of Man does. They have actual culture rather than a few stuffy museums, rickety old trams and some tourist tat.
  10. Don't know. But it was shite as it produced the current version of the Nation's loss-making Station. So it was expensive
  11. What's all this Manx Radio Listen Again / October 2019 bollocks? Are they undergoing another massively expensive rebranding?
  12. Why can't it all be consolidated in to one week? Saturday - Friday? It would help the incompetent get their Marshall numbers sorted
  13. And it's closed again... The Mountain Road is currently closed between Creg Ny Baa and Cronk Ny Mona (top of Jonny Watterson's lane) due to an RTC.
  14. The Faceache post about Big H and Harmer going to visit the Promenade works was a great example!
  15. Yes the experts - "we need to dig to 1.7m" - "oh wait no we don't". "Let's lay some concrete, oops it cracked" - "now we've fixed it so it won't crack, oops it's still cracking!". And the experts do have a lot to say on their MyProm website!
  16. Animal cruelty is far from a load of old bollocks.
  17. Move them to the Wild Life Park if they really must be kept at all! There's a reason everywhere else in the world scrapped trams dragged by nags!
  18. Government ownership now shining through! Pointless technology that isn't necessary creating extra admin and bureaucracy!!
  19. I can't see the issue. I think they're all doing a cracking job on the Promenade! This new fangled concrete is a fairly new invention, 3rd century BC? And what did the Romans ever do for us? Tarmac seems to have been ok around the train tracks for 80 odd years, I wonder why they decided it must be concrete now, to help the nags dragging the empty trams up and down the Prom?
  20. Think of all the Haribo and Pot Noodles the holiday camp residents could buy!
  21. You are Ray Harmer. I claim my £5. Try not to crack too much under pressure, not like your new concrete!
  22. Just when you thought it couldn't become anymore of a clusterfuck, the Department of Fucking-up Everything gets involved! https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/enterprise-to-get-involved-in-prom-works/ And the brilliant David Christian says the rates money is in his silo and he's not giving any of it back!! https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/govt-should-compensate-prom-businesses-not-council/ Just another argument in favour of scrapping local authorities and centralising the few essential services they provide!
