  1. Well he couldn't do it during the day... obvs.
  2. Jason Moorhouse MHK Treasury Minister. Surely the role for a former Economics teacher?
  3. Is there a new Department of the Undead?
  4. eh? so when did he speak to the Examiner (https://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/politics/i-wont-resign-david-ashford-says-547912 if he offered his resignation on Monday? More smoke and mirrors.
  5. gef reports his role as treasury minister is what he's resigned from.
  6. The 1924 hide and seek champion ?
  7. Natural gas - BBC News look at 5yr chart. Estimates of our reserves from oil and gas professionals and based on interpretation of existing data from previous drilling/2d surveys in the 1980's equate to around 14 Billion therms. It is PROVEN gas is there. Surely we must do our best to find out if these estimates are anywhere near ball park or just sales guff? The potential figures would be transformative and too big to ignore.
  8. On what basis is she making those claims? Gas will be an important part of the global energy mix until at least 2050, probably beyond. Unless they crack fusion, which is always 30 years away! Crogga has 26 months license extension to get seismic data, then 3 years after that to drill, if,if....
  9. The clown in Peel said £800Bn , the figure he'd heard and what he meant was 800 Billion Cubic Feet of gas potentially there.
  10. They'll have to be magic money trees then. The problem is the greens/labour have no credible plan on how to finance the push for renewables. More taxes anyone? Buying them in - Island at the mercy of market prices - no energy security Incentivising private investment to build renewables means guaranteeing a minimum price/profit at which the energy will be purchased for many years to come. Higher energy prices than necessary Exploiting gas asset, potentially provides many £££billions for renewable investment, and a national wealth fund, capped energy prices for lifetime of the field. No brainer to verify what's there and exploit if possible. It could be transformative for the Island.
  11. Yes, I saw a bit of it prior to being locked. Was searching for advice on what to do when you discover your partner has a garlic and sunlight allergy.
  12. Well that was quick, the tweets on that account are now protected (not being an hour ago), only confirmed followers can access... presumably the #creativevoidfiller is the shredder basket?
  13. it still looks like that!
  14. yeah, but it's not Government proposing the development of this marina, it's a private company. All above are Govt issues (or maybe Douglas Council in case of the walls)
  15. Dr Allinson was on MR yesterday, growing frustrated with the lack of progress, saying it's been talked about for 5 years but nothing has happened. "Where's the money?" was his line... They've not even submitted a planning application yet, can you imagine how long that's going to take...and the cost thereof.. with all the professional fees/surveys/reports involved, doubt they'd have much change from £500k, just for the application. No-one is going to put any substantial money into this before they've got planning, and even then, the back of a fag packet figures just don't stack up for their existing proposals IMHO.
  16. Maybe we could pioneer "eco-wanking" to encourage tourism? Haven't really thought through the mechanics of that, but pretty sure it wouldn't involve Callister, Ashford or shredders.
  17. I hear you, but why would you not cheerlead a potential £8 BILLION into Government coffers for no Government outlay? Let's see.
  18. How many times? NO TAXPAYER MONEY IS INVOLVED. it's a free hit for the Government in terms of a hydrocarbon tax/royalty they charge on extraction, and then they'd receive VAT on the processed (cleaned) gas when it is exported. Hydrocarbon tax would be outside the FERSA agreement.
  19. a) mercer - unelected b) langdon-newton - has no mandate, stood and was not elected
  20. Exactly. No public mandate - he's there to review legislation - that's it. Not mouth off publicly if decisions don't agree with his agenda. Should definitely wind his neck in, Alf should remind him of his responsibilities as an MLC, just as Quayle did to MLC members last term....
  21. Excellent, I can now energistically transform enabled models!!!! Shame I'll have to wait weeks for them to respond due to them clearly being overwhelmed by the number of applicants. Or maybe the directors are too busy with TV and/or pie eating commitments ?
  22. I am interested in joining them, and am quite glad it will take them several weeks to respond, as I feel I haven't fully squared the circle on my ability to move forward with the outside of the box, blue sky thinking management bullshit that will be needed for this role. Quite astounding they have the brass neck to launch this and expect to get any clients in the real private sector world. Very good luck to them.
  23. Holy shit! Do you think this new consultancy firm could help me? I'm stood in a massive security queue in a tiny regional airport, and was wondering if they could give any insights into why it might be happening?
