  1. I can assure you that no airline is guaranteed to help you if you're stuck these days. We deal with all carriers and tickets globally all day every day. We had a passenger cancelled by BA in the Far East this morning. Instead of booking him on the Virgin flight that left less than two hours later, they booked him on their own flight two days later. We had someone on a through ticket via Dublin and onto Emirates a couple of weeks ago. The IOM / DUB flight got in late and Emirates refused to help them. We had to sort it. So, you may be lucky if stranded at Heathrow and on BA, but if you're not at the airlines hub airport, there's a good chance you'll need to figure it out for yourself. Airlines and airports still don't have enough staff at the moment. Plenty furloughed during covid have clearly found better jobs outside of the industry, and were not prepared to have lightening striking twice.
  2. Just pointing out you’re comparing apples with pears.
  3. Are you seriously comparing City with Gatwick? Good luck checking a bag through with EZY.
  4. Facebook That’s probably a fair comment but I doubt the approach lights actually affect many flights a year. It’s fixable, and we could also upgrade the new ILS to Cat 2, but at a cost of millions and I’m not sure the benefit justifies the cost.
  5. Gatwick shithole? You’re probably confusing it with Manchester. @Ringy Rose
  6. Stu Peters reckons cat 2 wouldn’t make a significant difference to planes getting in @madmanxpilot ? Do we know how many flights would or wouldn’t have got in?
  7. 1. You’ve misunderstood the insult 2. apologies. I’ve mistaken you for another dick head.
  8. P&O have crewed their ferries with Filipinos for 25 years or more.
  9. Yeah, it’s all public, but why would I bother when dick heads like you will do it for me? LOL
  10. So where did the cash come from to buy it? SPCO bank loans?
  11. Loads of small fish swimming around the Villiers steps at high tide today. Baby herring ? Never really noticed fish in Douglas before, except mullet. I remember someone with a go pro in Douglas bay a couple of years ago showing millions of small herring ( allegedly). Something else I haven’t noticed much this summer either, garnets diving into the sea.
  12. Manx Care has announced the appointment of Dr Charlie (Charlotte) Orton Ph.D. and Kate Lancaster as Non-Executive Directors. Dr Charlie Orton is currently the CEO of UK SMART Recovery, a charity organisation that delivers training in the SMART Recovery 4-point Programme. Charlie has also been a Special Projects Lead for Liverpool Health Partners and has experience working in primary, secondary and tertiary care in the NHS and academia for England. Meanwhile, Kate is an experienced Non-Executive Director, with 20 years at Board level, and is currently the Chief Executive of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Sarah Pinch, Interim Chair of Manx Care, said: ‘I am thrilled to welcome both Charlie and Kate to the Manx Care Board. The breadth and depth of experience they bring will undoubtedly benefit Manx Care, our staff, service users and patients. They have already contributed to our Board and strengthen our governance arrangements.’
  13. Oh joy. Yet another pointless government bashing thread. ….and it’s herring now apparently
  14. Oh yeah. Sorry. Still bloody funny though
  15. Perhaps we’ve got Blackadder on board. “I usually just sail round and round the Isle of White till I get dizzy, then head for home” - John Pertwee
  16. We were on the Gatwick / IOM flight last night. Landed here 9:03pm. The crew were well aware they had to get back out before 10pm, or else they were stuck for the night. They managed it. Presumably the ground crew and associated support did well.
  17. Which MHK? It’s an anonymous forum. Why not name them?
  18. Gatwick inbound tonight could be struggling too. Around 1.5 hours late already. .....they could always swap aircraft of course.
  19. EasyJet operate 1700 flights a day.
  20. Depends what reason easyJet dream up for the cancellation. Basically, if it’s an ‘extraordinary’ issue, you can’t claim any compensation. …..we were once told a wasp had found its way behind the instrument panel so they cancelled the flight. Couldn’t risk getting stung. Made sense I suppose.
  21. Maybe they just ‘pull’ LGW. Do Loganair have capacity to do the route ? Maybe swap Heathrow. Qatar (albeit codeshare with BA) Turkish, Emirates, Lufthansa all fly out of LGW. Etihad, Cathay, Singapore all fly out of Manchester. Do we really need Heathrow?
