Was in a taxi years ago, coming back from the airport, listening to Suzie Richardson on Manx Radio hosting 'Swap Shop' Remember that? LOL
Anyhow, this bloke comes on and says "Hi Suzie, I've got a giveaway"
Suzie " Oh that's very generous of you, what is it"?
....." my apprentice, he's fucking useless"
Taxi driver nearly stuffed us into a hedge in Santon.
Was a really well paid job in the early eighties, when I was in the force. Too many other industries paying better these days. The Police salary just doesn’t compete any more. Add to that the fact that you spend more time these days sorting mental health issues with limited backup from DHSS, it’s no suppose folks are leaving. Management was also very poor back in the day. Nothing has changed very much in that respect by the looks of it. We had some decent senior officers, but they were easily outnumbered by idiots.
If India, China and the USA don't stop using coal, we're all fooked anyway. I understand everyone has to do their bit, but if the 'big hitters' don't appear to give a shite, what's the point ?
Pretty sure if you tried taking off from Ronaldsway in a 747, you'd make quite a mess.
....edit to add...I suppose you'd have to land it first though. Equally spectacular 😁
I’m with Slinky. I think you’re reading too much into it. If the big boys at UK CAA thought the issues were serious enough, the airport would already be closed.
The Chief Minister or his chums wont need to concern themselves. Plenty of experience here to run the event. Most of them will have drowned in the trough by then any way.
