  1. The problem with these purges on people that are abusing the system is that the genuine cases always get caught up in the cross-fire. A few years ago Government brought in a company, Dependability Ltd, at great expense to try and 'weed out the abusers'. Although successful in a small number of cases, in their shambolic efforts they totally destroyed the lives of some genuine claimants who's only crime was to be ill. I experienced the physical and mental abuse, the dishonesty and outright lies carried out by Dependability assessors and some MHK's. All carried out at a time when I was really unwell and in no position to stick up for myself, let alone fight back. Robertshaw started the witch-hunt but Eddie Teare was the worst culprit and driving force behind it when he was Treasury Minister. He continually lied in Tynwald regarding the whole procedure of the assessments, of which I documented and showed to a few MHK's/MLC's. Although a couple were sympathetic and questioned Eddie Teare in Tynwald, nothing was done and nobody held accountable, as usual. I'm not saying these assessments are not needed or shouldn't be performed, but they should be performed by qualified health professionals that fully understand your illness, and treat you humanely and with respect. More importantly, assessors must report on claimants health honestly. If they are proved to have lied, which I proved on numerous occasions, then they should be prosecuted. It's Fraud! If I'd have lied at any point to gain Benefits I wasn't entitled to then Government wouldn't be shy in prosecuting me.
  2. I don't think there is another two and a half years left in Alf going by that showing. He sounded a bit unhinged and ranty at times. The vote of no confidence that surely has to come might just be a blessing in disguise for him!
  3. Starting to look like a car crash 'Prince Andrew' type interview. Wouldn't be surprised if someone drags him out of there before he completely loses it!

    TT 2023

I believe Nathan has suffered a broken collarbone and a broken radius in his wrist. His injuries are being described as 'minor', but I would think his TT is seriously in doubt.
  5. Happy to be corrected Declan. Ofcourse, you are correct with Shearer and Cole with 34. I was actually doubting my answer as I was writing it but ran out of time to double check. While reading random rubbish facts, I was very surprised to learn that Michael Owen never scored 20 league goals in a season! If someone had said that down the pub I'd have put a few quid on them being incorrect considering how good he was earlier in his career! ETA....yes, Haaland could end up rewriting all sorts of stats if he stays relatively injury free!
  6. Who is the all-time leading goal scorer in the World Cup? Miroslav Klose (16 goals) Which country has won the most World Cup titles? Brazil 5 (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002) Which club has won the most Champions League titles? Real Madrid 14 Who has won the most Ballon d'Or awards? Lionel Messi 7 What is the highest score in a single game of football? 149-0 (Stade Olympique de L’Emyrne v AS Adema) Who is the only player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final? Shearer 31 (93/94 95/96) Who is the only player to score in every minute of a match? Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic (and some sources say Luis Suarez also) Who is the only player to score a goal in every minute of a match? Who is the only player to score a goal in every minute of a match?
  7. I enquired but thought his prices were far too dear for what I can basically do for next to nothing on my own racing rig 24/7. Everyone has to make a living though so good luck to him!
  8. Have any of you guys tried 'IRacing'? It's a bit on the expensive side compared to other sim racing platforms but this helps keep some of the knobheads away. It's not every sim that you can end up racing against current real life F1, Touring Car and Nascar legends!
  9. Can't see her resigning any time soon. Far too arrogant and loves the control and power she believes she has! Nasty piece of work!
  10. Unfortunately, parts of the Peel Road surface were below the height of the river yesterday tea time. Once the river overlaps or breaks its bank, the water will obviously flow to the lowest accessible point. No amount of drainage can help when we suffer freak weather like we did yesterday afternoon.
  11. Apologies, I've just seen this. I was on the Seacat sailing from Liverpool to Douglas on Sunday 5th October. Now, I would like to slaughter the Steam Racket as I have had nothing but shit service from them the last three or four times I have sailed with them. However, on that day they were first class. I received a text informing me of the early departure due to anticipated bad weather and about an hour later I received a phone call informing me of the same as well. I was in a group of six whilst on board and three of us had received a text and a call. The other three had only received a text. Not a bad service considering the boat was fairly busy. As it happens, the sailing was fine. The bad weather didn't arrive until after midnight.
  12. Just for clarification and to correct one or two posters..... There HAVE been incidents where cubs and scouts could have been seriously injured whilst manning the TT scoreboards. I was 'a runner' with the Cubs working behind the scoreboard around 1980. During a sidecar race, as an outfit crossed the finish line, it's chain snapped and it flew under the front of the boards, smashed in to the kerb and clattered in to the cemetery wall. It was only luck that it didn't hit any of us.....and only for the quick thinking of one of the Cub/Scout leaders who stopped a load of us rushing down the pavement to pick up the chain, some of us could have suffered serious burns. I suppose 10yr old kids don't realise that after a mile or two, a bike chain is absolutely red hot. I'm not sure but I think it was because of this incident that the boards on the front of the scoreboards were made more or less flush with the tarmac. Another incident which I witnessed over 20yrs later whilst working in pit lane saw a local competitor (will spare his blushes by not naming him) approaching the Start/Finish in wet conditions. The back end stepped out Big Time and how he never fell off is a fact only known by the big man upstairs. If he HAD lost it, the bike would have smashed into the scoreboards and the result of that doesn't bear thinking about. There is NOWHERE round the course that can be considered safe, just places that are less likely to see an incident than others. Accidents can happen anywhere. Anything that can be done to make things safer at the scoreboards has to be applauded but I think it is time to move the Cubs/Scouts well away from unpredictable machines travelling in excess of 170mph.
  13. A Panic Tax by a panicking Government! It's a Fuck Up from Start to Finish! All Bell and his Puppets see is another opportunity to take yet more money off the public to help his underachieving government try to paper over the ever-widening cracks. Fairness has NEVER been a priority in any decisions this Government has made yet, so why should they start now with this latest 'smash and grab'?
  14. So if I'm reading/understanding this correctly..... Douglas Corporation or Onchan Commissioners tenants are NOT ALLOWED to take advantage of the 5% discount on the £50 Toilet Tax because the payments will be spread over 50-52 weeks by the Governing Authority, without any consultation/agreement with the tenants? That sounds just as dictatorial as Bell and his puppets! Will the tenants have the opportunity to pay all 'up front' to take advantage of the discount? Or is this just a further example of those on lower incomes being screwed more than others in society? Edit: Shit spelling
