  1. Ok. And what is the EV tariff for home use?
  2. I think that's probably optimistic. Not that I don't think they'll necessarily last that long (although very little electronic equipment does these days) ,but they'll be superceded in half that time. Normal electricity customers pay a standing charge to pay for the network. Is there a standing charge added on to the tariff of public EV chargers? I wouldn't mind betting they pay a lower tariff too. It's like pre-payment meter users don't get prompt payment discounts despite paying in advance for their electricity - allegedly because of the cost of running the prepayment system. I can only assume £600k is not considered a cost. Same old story on the IOM. Shaft the poor while giving your rich mates subsidies left right and centre.
  3. Loud pipes save lives people. Just another step on the road to the island becoming less tolerant by the year. I
  4. Too many cylinders. Can't beat a v-twin of the Honda Firestorm, Suzuki TL1000 era.
  5. That's correct. Although, given the context, it really doesn't matter where the apostrophe is placed or whether there is one at all. The meaning is very clear in any case.
  6. So we can expect it by 2040 at a cost of at least £120million then.
  7. Again they reap what they sow. You can't spend decades treating your passengers like dirt and then expect them to give you a glowing report.
  8. There's more to pubs than draught beer
  9. CD shops went because of music streaming. Good luck with putting pubs online. Government support many industries in one way or another. There are many companies on the island that rely almost exclusively on government for their income. Helping the hospitality sector could and perhaps should be done. It's not as if it's never been done before, albeit very selectively.
  10. Yes you can. There would be a clause in his contract to account for gross misconduct. If wasting tens of millions of public money on an extremely poorly thought out and implemented project isn't gross misconduct then I don't know what is. We simply should not be paying to keep this prick in the lap of luxury for the rest of his life!
  11. Is it pointless though? Is it right we should be rewarding such a monumental cock up with a gold- plated pension for life?
  12. They may not have a job, but in many cases their tax payer funded pension means they may as well have. Just because they're not working doesn't mean they're not getting paid.
  13. And then give up the manifesto immediately after the election like the rest of them.
  14. He was a character that's for sure. Must have been a good age by now.
  15. As long as you don't turn up, you don't seem like a party kind of a person anyway.
  16. Yes, blankets and stuff too I believe - everything you need to shipwreck in style. Have always thought it looked like a submarine from Douglas, depending on the tides.
  17. Can't believe I'm actually agreeing with you, but you have a point - although Gladys is right about being a fundraiser. I've always thought the same about the parish walk too. Paying £30 to walk around on public roads just seems crazy to me.
  18. Whilst boosting visitor accomodation for our biggest and most important tourist event of the year.
  19. You might also if government were your only customer and you'd been milking them for every penny they were worth for years.
  20. That and the fact one of their "special" contactors built the place so it probably cost at least double what it would if it were built on the free market.
  21. That's just it. Most public sector housing has has genuine working stacks removed while they are insisting Dandara etc al put up fake ones.
  22. Yes I quite agree, some old features are very nice to look at and there's no harm in incorporating them into newer builds. It's when the planning people insist on it (like chimney stacks) it just looks wrong and out of place. I can't remember the name of the road now, leads out of Ramsey up the hill. I worked on a new build there, which the planning people insisted had to be an almost carbon copy of the house opposite, despite it being on a plot a fraction of the size and the house opposite not being visible from the road. The result is one of the ugliest, most out of place houses you've ever seen. The point the planners missed is that no two other houses on the road are the same, they're all different. The best way this one could have fitted in was to do the same - be different. Instead we have a 21st century copy of a Victorian House that looks, well wrong. It's madness.
