  1. Willaston School has these balls. Is this the top secret iom government masterplan? Iom college super campus ?
  2. I have reliably heard from someone who works on construction at King gaming site that the works are shutting down following all the arrests and asset freezes. The news we were waiting for.
  3. Finally some proper journalism. Gef the mongrel, take note
  4. Well thats the King Gaming Campus project becoming another wasteland then. Feel sorry for the contractors, engineers and suppliers involved who will likely lose out if it is cancelled following this investigation.
  5. I am 90% sure this is him. I also think he was in some form of relationship with Clare Christian MHK? https://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/business/lets-work-together-to-back-local-economy-235223
  6. The meat plant is in a change of ownership? Does anyone know what that means?
  7. Does anyone else feel like the saying "Theres a boat in the morning" is being less used these days.. I feel this is a sign that more and more people are fed up with the IOM 🚤🚤
  8. Lawrie Hooper now on spewing on absolute verbal nonsense about how Manx Care needs more money and how dire our situation is. Weasel
  9. Upper tax band increased from 20% to 22%
  10. Its the elderly pension population too. The working people will have to pay to fund the pensions, and there wont be enough workers
  11. Due on the 20th February 2024. Manx whispers are that income tax is rising in some sort of way. Lets just say this will go down like a led balloon with the manx public!
  12. Looking at the original 2019 planning agreement, our esteemed DOI decided that there would be a surplus of affordable housing in the south and that only 20 houses would be needed in a development of phase 1 which was approximately 200 homes? They only had 10% then with the remainder paying a fee of £23500 per plot to the DOI in leu of affordable housing. In the current political climate with housing I would wish to hope that the government would enforce the 25% rule
  13. Each house has two parking spaces ?
  14. From my knowledge of working at IOMPost for a few years several years ago, the yodel parcel contract was lost to manx independent carriers in about 2018 but then sub contracted back because they could not handle the extra. They paid post office peanuts in comparison. i think something similar happened with hermes and dpd years before that… if royal mail goes to manx independent, I can see the hermes couriers taking over some of that work, and just having smaller areas to cover with more parcels per street. it also gives manx independent the option to cherry pick where they want to deliver. For example, they may choose to deliver the royal mail parcels within douglas and onchan themselves but leave all the rural parcels which are not profitable to iom post. One things for sure, IOM Post are in dire straights. Glad I got out when I could.
  15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-67565498 bbc news covering the Ranson case. The big outlets seem to be covering the scandal now. does not exactly paint our island in the best light.
  16. https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/post-office-workers-to-be-consulted-on-voluntary-redundancies/?fbclid=IwAR3n_9t4wmDCLeBUmTUpVvuahCY_vo9vZddevWlXafZ2ME2Rb-_cAnlpP5w Its in the public knowledge now. Stu Peters did well to not give a number of how many roles are at risk, no doubt reading from a carefully crafted statement written by the puppet masters at IOMPO HQ
  17. Looks like a few bored ego bruised coppers [🐷] have turned out in this thread
  18. This is just another incident to add to the growing list of reasons why Manx Policing is becoming more alike with those in the UK, and along with it the Manx general public's respect for the police. Another example, RPU facebook page calling members of the public herberts every other week! Seems the quality and calibre of our current police officers has seriously declined in the last decade.
  19. In this instance why could the police not have just used good old pava spray? The man is clearly just one of the pully drunkards, why the need for MP5 submachine guns and to taser him on the floor while 5 100kg men sit on him? Police are the real herberts. Nobody respects the IOM cops anymore
  20. I will never forget they also fiddled the finances back in 2018 and 2019. In those years the post office made heavy losses according to all the press releases. However never mentioned they made millions selling strand street post office to 1886 and these figures were not included. Interesting that they do consider these "fixed asset" sales only to make them look good when they need to! Obviously, the situation is changed now given the senior management need to make themselves look good, as they have already stripped the postal operations division to the bone and there is nowhere left to cut, apart from themselves! The post office will make a loss next year. Save this post!
  21. As with most government positions, I believe they will offer to redeploy affected permanent staff first into other positions across the business. For example, a permanent redundancy in douglas sorting office may be offered a position at the southern delivery office which is currently filled by a temporary contract. The person on temp. contract then loses their job, albeit temporary. It seems to have come at short notice the decision, I wonder also if they will encourage posties close to retirement to retire early as well? I know they used to offer a voluntary redundancy scheme every year, but I understand this stopped as it was no longer feasible in terms of cost. 21 is certainly a high number, probably a fifth of the workforce in DSO? What is the position of the CWU and will there be a press release? @Stu Peters can you comment on this?
  22. This morning I am hearing rumours of 21 redundancies at Douglas Sorting Office, including to permanent members of staff. All to be made redundant in January. As a result of declining mail volumes, postal revisions and loss of parcel force contract...
  23. More quality journalism from Manx Radio... https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/drop-in-uk-average-house-values-not-reflected-in-isle-of-man/ "A sharp, 4 per cent drop in the average property price in the UK over the past year, hasn't been mirrored in the Isle of Man." - BETWEEN JULY 2022 & JULY 2023 "Despite anecdotal evidence that the local market has slowed down, figures from propertyprices.im suggest the average sale price in July was around £12,000 higher than the previous month." - BETWEEN JUNE 2023 & JULY 2023 You what 😂😵 Great job Manx Radio. Completely missed the point in UK statistics there and fudge it for the isle of man month to month. No problem on the IOM. Invest here, please we are desperate

    Irony

I think you will find people do want to live in Kirk Michael. They just don't want to spend £530,000 on a 3 bed dansharter bungalow
