  1. He's implying that once you're ïn" you're "in " I think Derek and don't like to bite the hand that feeds you ? Bit like a few other regular posters on here who once they'd accepted the queens shilling became transparent almost to the point of vanishing.
  2. Even if IOMSA were to put forward a convincing costed business case and plans (Which they haven't !) you'd have to take into account that all the comparisons so far used to try to convince people of the viability of this Unicorn Poo , are with Orkney, Shetlands and Monaco"' etc" which are all natural sheltered deep water locations with prevailing winds off the land, unlike the proposed Douglas location with it's proximity to the existing breakwater and it's possible damage from powerful side and bow thrusters from these boats with the need for tugs to be on standby 24/ 7 and all the associated cost implications that come with them. It all seems a little like the EU stance on the Brexit "" Negotiations"" ,in that it's a case of give us the money and we'll fill in the details later!!!
  3. Unfortunately I missed it as I had prior engagement would have been very interesting. I did catch a little of Stu Peters on the moan in line an hour or so back and there was a lot of feedback on the issue , one guy who was there described how at the end of the presentation members of the IOMSA who were present were invited up to put their case ,but declined to engage, which is their right ,but wouldn't you think that if this idea is such a sure fire winner they'd be keen to convince people of the merits?
  4. What's the average tidal flow speed at the back of the head b4mbi mate? Oh and can you please post up a latest plan of the proposed location of the cruise berth,it would really help if we actually know where it's going to be situated . Cheers !! H
  5. Looking at how this topic from the beginning it seems that Governments well paid and taxpayer insulated dreamers along with the well connectedmovers and shakers behind the scenes are determined to progress this fairy tale come hell or high water . First they show the stupid plebs a pretty picture with a proposed berth opposite the tower of refuge ,they when pointed out that they would have to dynamite half the existing pier structures and bay to make it work ,they proclaim ! "" Ah but the cruise liner berth was never meant for there ,it's going to be a pontoon structure outside the existing breakwater "". Again when pointed out that the new proposed location for the pontoon structure is smack in the middle of the tidal flow and prevailing winds and is dangerous they say! "" Ah but it's not going to be a pontoon structure but permanent "" When the feedback from the public remains negative pointing out that if it's such a winner that they should not need any taxpayer funding ,they then then change tack again ! "" Ah but it's not just a cruise liner berth but a proposed full port redevelopment "" They are like scum sucking bottom feeding shape shifting barnacles this lot , and a symptom of all that has been wrong and wasteful with this Island over decades, but they're hanging on for dear life because they can almost taste the money, and as per time honored proven model will be long gone by the time the shit hits the fan . Say it again ,in proposed location it's a dangerous plan . P.S. I've included the smiley as I don't want to seem too negative!
  6. It's not just unwise ,it's fucking dangerous and anybody from gov that puts their name to committing taxpayer monies into this ill thought through folly needs to be turfed out of government.
  7. I think for once you may be right.
  8. Well that's enough from me on this one I think ! Deeply disappointed in the lack of interest shown in this topic though. Can't believe people being paid out of the public purse have for more than 20 yrs consistently failed in their legally contracted duties to uphold public access to one of the most picturesque walks on the Island and have seemingly gone against process and smoothed the way for a developer who has a record of obstructing access to PROW's in that area . Fucking overpaid imbeciles, who as the old saying goes "Know the price of everything ,but the value of nothing""! Especially when you consider that we have multiple other agencies from the same government promoting the Island as a walkers paradise.
  9. Please note that all information supplied is in the public domain and the file access number is contained on the stick on note at the foot of the page of the letter from concerned members of the public.
  10. As promised had a little look and some very interesting facts jumped out at me , the main one being that maintenance and upkeep of the viaduct walkway and all ""Public rights of way around Port Soderick became the responsibility of Dept of Transport (Now the D.O.I ) in 1985 due to a series of"" legal "" agreements with the then current owners . The Department agreed at all times to keep the walkways and viaduct in good order , tasks in which they have clearly been negliigent and failed ,leading to the deterioration of the Viaduct and all PROW Point being agents of the now D.O.I. so called ""Public servants"" have clearly failed the interests of the Public of the Isle of Man both present and future, whether through incompetence or other reasons is the question ? There also seems to have been a possible over hasty demolition of the viaduct walkway seeing as the final date for submissions opposing the plan to close the Walkways was 17th July and the demolition of the walkways took place on the 20th of July ! I've heard (Not sure) that it requires an act of Tynwald to strip PROW status and there is no way that that has been given in the space of 3 days as far as I can see. On a positive note it does hearten me to see that there are good people still on this Island (Looking at the submissions) that still care about the need for public access to places of beauty ,for our and future generations even if it does seem as in time honoured ""Public service "" fashion that they and their submissions have been totally ignored. H.
  11. The Landowner is only trying to further his own interests as you'd expect. It's the colluding with him of ""Public servants"" in removing what appears to be established PROW that bothers me ,at the very least they should be named and made to explain how it's in the public interest for them to remove them . Time for some digging I think !!
  12. I love the way they state "" The public right of way has been impassible since 2004 "" ! Of course it has! Because the very people(Public servants) who are in charge of the maintenance closed the walkway rendering it almost impossible to access and thus abdicating their responsibiities to Manx public and tourist alike ! You couldn't make this shit up !
  13. Here's the notification document for any interested. I'm also pretty sure that the section of PROW hat they intend to do away with actually carried on all the way back up to the roadway above and didn't finish where it shows on this pic. I'd say it's pretty poor at best if the only reason DOI are planning on doing away with a very scenic route of PROW is to save a few pennies . It'll all come out in the wash as they say.!!
  14. I can't believe they're even trying to do this , especially after our GOV spent upwards of 75k fighting Clarkson to keep open 50yds of PROW at Langness! Yet here we have these cocooned imbeciles attempting to strip what appears to be established PROW status to a once a once very popular scenic footpath ,exactly the type of which both tourists and future generations of Manxies would love to walk.
  15. When I posted this a month or so back ,i didn't realize how near the mark I might have been !! I took a spin down to Port Soderick on Thursday last, to see where the land was lying and was surprised to find what appeared to be a D.O.I gov notice(I'll post as soon as I work out how to reduce to fit page!) pinned to the old stone Arch at the Douglas end of the beach which was the entrance to a P.R.O.W which led to the Sea lion pen and also further on up to the roadway above if my memory serves. The notice gives GOV intention to remove P.R.O.W status to this stretch of coastal footpath and walkway ,which over the years has been left to lapse into disrepair by the same GOV which is now trying to promote the IOM as a walkers paradise . I'd expect this sort of thing from private landowners trying to keep people of their land but not our own GOV who are supposedly the custodians of both todays and future public rights .
  16. I don't see why ! The head honcho saw fit to post a plan on here (Of which the scales didn't add up by the way !) of a floating fucking pontoon , they've now changed the design to more of a fixed structure . What made them change it ? You'd have thought with all the so called experts on board they'd at least have come up with a design suitable for the proposed location before sharing it and seeking funding!
  17. Just as you don't belong anywhere near this topic as you obviously know sweet FA about the . Manx Coastal waters
  18. 2 tugs on permanent standby at a cost of estimated 2 mill a year , !! Info from a man who knows what he's talking about . Also it appears they've changed the design of the structure from a floating pontoon to a permanent fixed pier type thingy, possibly due to criticizm on here ? Which in itself tells you what a cobbled together crock of made up fairy dust that they are proposing.
  19. Oh yes indeedie!! They're trying hard on this one (Front page examiner!) I really think the stupid bastards are going to go for it !
  20. Err it's a force 10 mate !! I'm pretty nuts when it comes to bad weather ,but I think I'd be giving that sailing a miss .
  21. Looking at the charts 50mph westerly's (Force 10) blowing directly into Heysham which is a notoriously shallow Harbour. You'd have to be nuts to chance that ,especially after the incident in Douglas Harbour a month or so back!
  22. And the Chinese will still be building coal fired Powered Stations!
  23. I honestly don't know , but I'm pretty sure that any pathway where there is a record of unbroken public access for over (I think?) 20yrs has grounds to become a PROW ! It needs to happen in this instance ,Port Soderick has a special place in the Hearts of both Manx folk recent arrivals (Less than 50 yrs!) much more so than Langness and look at the shitstorm that created ! Like said previously ,the guy may have the best interests of the public at heart ,but if our clowns in Gov ,allow access to this beach to be restricted where will it end?
