That's our next plan, to buy something with some land then with the kids grown up a little more we have the time to do something with it. New builds are as much a lifestyle purchase as anything else. 

We've tried to spend a little on our new build every month so that when we come to sell it still looks like a new build. I've looked inside some relatively new houses and they look dated, which when you come to sell will fall inbetween two stools I would have thought. 

We also asked Dandara to reconfigure a few parts of the house for free before they built it as a condition of sale, to make a few things more attractive like a free standing bath, bigger rooms etc... and also to make sure there wasn't another house in the same development that looked the same, to in theory make it easier to sell.  

Too many people look upon a house as an investment than can only go up and expect it to as well, without realising this is the real world so you need to work at and even then you've no guarantee.

Well there's plenty of property on the island where you can do this, sadly condition can be a bit rough but far better IMO than a house in an estate.

Most of the transactions can be searched online via a google search of the address and you will get the newspaper property transaction report . This will not be possible anymore.

People who are planning to buy or even sell will now have to buy the newspaper to see how much the current  prices are.

The Land Registry is to publish transactions on line anyway

Agree "GD" Dandara new  "detached" :lol: properties are on a tiny plot , you could almost shake hands with the next door neighbour while you were both within your property  . 

Some may think this is an advantage but it's not for me , I appreciate a degree of privacy .

Reminds me of the old lady who, after she'd died, her family found a jar labelled and filled with 'pieces of string too short to be of any use'

:lol:, I'm not quite that bad but it causes a great amount of friction between wife and I, when she decides to have a clear out. World war 3.

I have to admit though that collecting sky + boxes is losing it's appeal. I must have about 10 now, as I reckoned they would be worth selling at some point.

Our garage has been cleared many times, but I still have ( I think) brake shoes for a 1975 ish ford escort and Hillman Imp bonnet hinges.

She's right, I'm a lost cause.:(

My other half doesn't understand the importance of saving off cuts of timber, you never know...
