However, it does seem like the Isle of Man Government takes a lot of its marching orders from off-island. From who, I don't know. It seems like a lot of the governments across the globe take their marching orders from outside their own borders and it seems to happen in an orchestrated way, with similar or the exact same policies and even the same talking points being carried out at exactly the same time in completely different countries. Regretably, until the 'more capable to lead' put themselves forward for election and then set about dismantling the apparatus of the bloated Manx socialist state nothing will change. Let's not deviate away from the knuckle-headed electorate who puts them there in the first instance. The worst offenders are usually those who believe they're making some sort of statement by refusing to vote and then complaining the loudest. There would appear to be no such word for 'discernment' in the manx language and because of all this inertia and political dis-interest of its people, this place gets the government it rightly deserves. I think it was Solon (?) who made it the law that every Athenian citizen must vote? Anyway, that didn't include slaves and probably only included males who were land-owners, but I do like the idea of making voting mandatory.
