Bobbie Bobster
Just got this page (http://protect.manx.net/address-scan.html) popping up, ironically when I was reading the comments on an El REg article about Win 10. Any thoughts on what (a) it might technically refer to and (b) why it popped up. Kaspersky shows nothing funny going on the main PC. Only other devices live on the connection are various tablets, phones, and a Synology diskstation (and Sky box, natch).
ans
Rogue device on your wireless? Look for any suspicious devices in the ip tables. Malware on a smartphone/tablet from a rogue app install?
joeyconcrete
Do you use BitTorrent? Some Torrent applications exhibit the same behavior as port/address scanning.
Bobbie Bobster
@joey That could be it. Was experimenting with Download Station on the Synology. Thanks.
The Old Git
There's a lot to the Synology Diskstation that I'm afraid to meddle with.
Bobbie Bobster
Aye, they've replaced their windows backup software with some cloudy backup thingy that runs on the station that I've yet to figure out. still, overall much better than faffing about with multiple HDs in the PC
bazcabs
I don't' know what it is with MT's detection. I have one site that regularly detects malicious traces, but take the exact same kit to another location and no detection at all. Only difference is that site that detects is VDSL, site that doesn't is ADSL. Some days no detection's on VDSL site, another day have to reboot router 3-4 times in a 2 hour period. Never have issues on ADSL sites.

HeliX
It's bollocks 90% of the time. Unless your PC has other symptoms ignore it.
