Also an in detail look at the descent to the moon on Apollo 11 and how it almost went wrong.

BBC World Service

Following on from this.  Kevin Fong has returned with an in depth look at Apollo 13 and the events building up to and following the explosion in its oxygen tanks when 2/3rds of the way to the moon.  Great documentary making.

Nice one China, science rules.

The 'Ancient Aliens Debunked' site is also revealing and well worth a watch if you've a couple of hours to spare, completely dispelling the myths that people just want to believe.

I still don't understand how they drew those huge birds and monkeys etc. hundreds of years ago in the Atacama Desert when they can only properly be seen from considerable altitude?

If they can only be recognised from said altitude, why bother doing them? It's not like just painting on the wall of a cave at eye level, is it?

The Nazca Lines. Actually began taking shape thousands of years ago. Stakes, pegs, lengths of rope, simple surveying tools. The lines were etched into the dry surface and can be seen from the surrounding high ground so no great mystery. First recorded in history around the 16th century(?). The stable climate on the plateau has enabled the longevity but tourism has affected parts of it quite badly in recent times. There's a wealth of rational, scientific info on t'interweb. Forget Von Daniken and all the crackpots, it was all part of the local culture which was technically more advanced than had previously given credit to.

Personally I believe it is still a possibility that this planet may have seen visitations and interventions by advanced alien species but nothing like the fantastic and fallacious ideas created by programmes like AA's.
