Don't become a victim of crime whilst our Island is a safe place

What?

It's just another in a long line of pointless adverts to tell people the obvious so that if something bad happens they can tick some box to say that they warned the public about it. The other one up there warning men not to shag drunken comatose women because it might be rape falls into exactly the same category. If you need to be warned about that then you probably need to be warned about wiping your ass after you have a crap too.

surely the only reason to be warned about "wiping your ass" would be if you were going to use something unsuitable , like a broken bottle perhapsflowers.gif

I don't see the issue with it

Maybe my English isn't very good, and I'm reading it wrong but this doesn't make any sense to me

The whole thing looks like it has been put together by some GCSE kids in set 3.

''There is no reason to capitalise the word 'island' in that sentence.''

Hello Adama, grammar police here. One would in fact, use a capital for specific geographical area, in this case, 'our Island', meaning the Isle of Man.

Had the reference been, ' there is crime all over the island'', a capital would not be used as it is a reference to a conglomeration of all the areas where crime is taking place.

Glad to see that after only 23 posts you are taking an interest in the grammar, or lack of it, on these forums. Keep it up old chap.

Never mind the capitalisation on 'Island' - why on 'safe'?? And the black isn't in line on the right hand image...

here, yous a right pendant incha!

Notwell, the sentence is a solecism, that is, it does not say what was intended.

Utter bollocks. 'Island' would only be capitalised if used in one of two ways: as the first word in a sentence or if used as part of a proper noun. Referring to a specific island still doesn't make it a proper noun. Duh.
