Shake me up Judy
It sounds great on the pipes and drums but they play it a lick too fast.
woolley
I know it's been said thousands of times; but what a better national anthem it would be than the truly awful O Land Of Our Birth. The diehards would never change it though... Not sure about that, SMUJ. I love Ellan Vannin's beautiful melody, but it is a touch melancholy for a national anthem as it is the longing for home of an exile. O Land Of Our Birth is at least rousing. Both are better than the dire God Save The Queen of course, but that isn't saying much.
Shake me up Judy
Fair point Woolley; it is a homecoming lament and perhaps not rousing enough for a true national anthem.
ManxTaxPayer
the dire God Save The Queen of course, but that isn't saying much. You silly man.
woolley
It just doesn't inspire anything. It isn't rousing in any way. Compare to La Marseillaise.
