If at the start of a year you have x amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and you release y tonnes of anthropogenic CO2 in to the atmosphere and about 40% of these emissions stay in the atmosphere then has the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere increased, decreased or stayed the same? Now, we all know that maths may be not one of Woody's strong points as he clearly thinks if the airborne fraction is approximately 40% now and it has stayed remarkably constant (with a trend of effectively zero) what does this mean? Woody's answer - it means the airborne fraction is zero ... erm ...
