Presumably most who have been elected (supported the original PFG & Budgets) would argue that this (a few little sweeteners to make the numbers look good, more than balanced out by charges and stealth taxes) is what the majority of voters want?

Is it?

Think voters want higher earnings for those on low to middle incomes so that they might more easily cope with the demands of funding government & enjoy some 'disposable' income

How wrong am I?

Would Lightbulb know what a General Election is???

Who would go? He probably thinks it's a holiday destination!

Yes, i know what a "general election" is, it is when people vote for an intelegent / business minded person of the community, a well educated person, to make a big diffrence to the manx economy, ie, Howard Quayle, Eddie Tear, Kate Beecroft.

Just my own unscientific guess based on perfromance and perceived constituency support. Obviously it all depends a great deal on who stands against them:

What you're saying is complete bollocks of course.

In reality, Cannan has presided over very progressive, worker-friendly tax and budgetary reforms. The working class are paying less tax and receiving more in the way of spending/funding aimed at helping working families. How you think this is "anti working class" is beyond me.

But how much influence does an MHK have over a government department, or are they just a mouth piece ( a lamb to the slaughter if it all goes wrong ) ?

Is Howard Quayle well educated?

Has he a Masters degree, a Doctorate?

Mr Cannan has - it would seem - endowed Treasury with the capacity to make judgmental decisions on the value of work to the state & impose obligations upon parents in return for the support of social welfare
