FWIW I find slaughter for both the kosher and the halal market obscene. It's just that there are no KFC joints in the UK that deliberately choose to use kosher meat. Obviously the intent of any new business is to attract the widest customer base and as many people don't give two stuffs about eating meat that has been humanly slaughtered or not it might be that going down the halal (or kosher) path would achieve this.
