Cambon
Waste of time and money. Those who want to go fast will go fast anyway. Few will be prosecuted. There will almost certainly be more crashes as frustration sets in. Most crashes already take place in restricted areas, so why not try policing those properly first? If a person gets frustrated about speed limit compliance then perhaps they shouldn't be driving. I also can't see how you can justify not doing away with derestricted roads on the basis that some people may still crash in currently restricted areas. if policing is an issue a few speed cameras might act as a deterrent...but then you find that people are anti cameras because they don't think the law should appliy to them. And a defacto pedestrian crossing. Variable speed limits don't work except on motorways. People get used to driving a certain speed on certain routes. Most IOM routes should be no-overtaking. And no tolerance of pushing in between cars. Motorbikes included. And there should be speed cameras. If you are worried about being late, leave earlier. What do you mean 'Wrong' ?? You'd have us back to using horse and cart, or walking every where !!!! Bet your car's never been in top gear !!

We have tiny little poorly maintained rural B roads on the IOM. Completely unsuited to motorway speeds. But with some spectacular scenery. It's not about how fast you go. The roads are for getting from A to B safely. Book a weekend at a circuit if you want to play vroom-vroom. (And you're free to campaign for higher taxes in order to fund upgrading and better maintaining the roads.)
