Amadeus
Hello everyone. By popular demand, the election sub forum is back. Same sort of format as last time: one topic per constituency, all elections related content to go here, candidates welcome to post, keep it civil, etc, etc. Please post any questions / comments / requests about it here.

Declan
Couldn't the Blatant Electioneering thread be moved here? Instead of cutting the various conversations within it short by the arbitrary decision to lock it?
TheTeapot
Agree with Declan, at this early stage a general general election thread makes sense, that one was fine.
Amadeus
I'm adding the two minute summary videos from manx radio's YouTube channel to the first post in each constituency topic at the moment. Seems not all candidates are done yet and I'll check back and add them as they become available, but if I overlook one, someone please ping me. Any other info we should add to each thread? 1
the stinking enigma
Are these things available as panini stickers?
Declan
You could make them into a Top Trumps pack. Only Stu would out-Trump everyone. 1
Apple
Wouldn't it be a bit of fun to not vote for anyone we have voted for before. That would change the face of politics that's for sure. Random selection - maybe that is what we need after the last lot.
SleepyJoe
Good idea - I shall comply!

A much better change would be to abolish the system under which many constituencies elect 2 MHKs. We are ridiculously over-represented. Getting rid of the runner-ups would be a good start. And it would make for much better campaigning.
pongo
Let's be honest: There shouldn't be prizes for coming 2nd.
pongo
Or maybe only the one who comes first should get paid.
wrighty
@Amadeus I have a suggestion - once the election is over, keep this sub-forum in place, maybe rename it 'local politics' or something, and post election it can be used to monitor and comment on each elected MHK's activities. Might make a nice archive come 2026 when they're trying to get re-elected. 2
TheTeapot
We had a sub forum for the last election, is that still about?

I think it got put back into 'local news' and hence dropped off the radar.
