Just step away from the internet.  I paid for a lump sum and income or income only under the Civil service Pension Scheme (pre Unified scheme which saw everyone paying the same rate in - not different rates, depending on your position). Depending on what you wanted out - the scheme had different level of payment staged over a period of years until, obviously, any new entrant was paying the max amount.   It increases every year until it was all the same.  It has always included a death in service element and a dependents pension. 

What percentage are you paying into GUS and what do expect to get out of it?

No you didn’t. You sound like the poster Banker on here. Denying facts and making up false scenarios. If you are / were a civil servant (not NHS or Police etc) in the public sector scheme before GUS you paid nothing but 1.5% which was a contribution to your 4x death in service. The actual employee pension contribution was zero. Nothing.
