  1. may it have been the port which closed due to the weather which takes all responsibility away from SPCo ?
  2. Yes, as you well know! Perhaps we should "review" his HNW tax status? To ensure he remains "focused" on the dredging agreements, etc...? like ban helicopters landing within 10mile of airports ?
  3. cancelled tonight due to expected bad weather at Heysham (must have been a lst minute decision, or they were very late updating their website 'latest sailings')
  4. so why is she doing still in the harbour at 20.30 with no signs of much activity ? have they just cancelled it ?
  5. Mike Clark plumbing and heating did a good job for us
  6. I thought it was pretty obvious they were both 44 and another of these things where someone on FB posts a puzzle and there's zillions of 'likes' if you got it right (with it being perimeter does it matter if the angles are 90º as long as the sides are straight and parallel - we're not calculating area where it would matter !)
  7. according to Police twitter, seems the mountain road has been closed for 5 hours today, just opened again :-(
  8. so they shift 30,000+ bikers, freight and foot pax in and out in 2 weeks then have one slow crossing on a low priority freight boat and you kick off surely you can make your own sarnies for once ! do you get all hot and bothered about the numerous delays and cancellations on flights too ? My observation was in general, nothing to do with whatever has broken down just good business practice, something we are sadly lacking and costing the island huge sums of money ! but you were very specific about the SPCo

  10. There'll be no sarnies in Marksies this lunchtime, along with the papers, as Arrow seems to be struggling with engine problems, still about 2hrs away from Douglas going quite slow (eta about 13.30+)
  11. You really wonder how that has happened.Assuming it wasn't a vehicle turning in /coming out of the campsite (which from the position is saw it didn't look to be the case) then it's a head on between a van and a shit car. Which intimates an overtaking manouvre. Why the fuck would you overtake in a shit car/van on that stretch of road? On mad Sunday too. As if there isn't enough traffic (and monitoring of 40mhp speed limits). Why the fuck would anyone speculate or state intimations when the know people are having to deal with what's happened? You are very wrong by the way, but also a total tosser. I think the speculation is just wondering what is wrong with that bit of road and if we should be aware of an unseen hazard (eta: like the recently corrected hazard by the Brown Bobby bus stop where you would happily be in the right turn lane and meet someone overtaking a bus facing you head on :-o )
  12. it's all very quiet about the the crash + fatality at QB-Braddan !
  13. Yes they do or people would travel through 30mph zones at the same speed as they do through derestricted areas and that is obviously not the case. Do 100% of people strictly obey 100% of the time? No, but that is different from saying they don't work. I struggle to think of any law that works 100% of the time even with very serious penalties as people seem happy to commit murder in places where there is a death penalty. One thing that does annoy me is the police messages continually requesting riders/drivers slow down. If that is really what the police want get their political masters to introduce an all Island limit. It won't happen cos safety comes after the deemed cash cow of the TT and wanting to get re-elected. if they aren't obeyed by 100% they don't work You can't really believe that? You think if there want any 70mph limit on motorways everyone would self police and there wouldn't be an increase in accidents? Just because not everyone follows. Law to the letter, doesn't mean it "doesn't work" if working is classed as slowing people down and reducing crashes, injury and deaths. being pedantic, yes it does, if it looks like a limit, smells like a limit, it is A LIMIT

  15. speed limits don't work ! race team van overtook me up Brown Cow Hill 50mph zone like a bullet, doesn't help stay anonymous with a well known racer name plastered across the side
  16. not the mountain but still on the course, 2 local vehicles coming together with tragic results https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1210519788982357&id=202507643116915
  17. Very sensible. When I was young we weren't allowed our bikes during TT, they were put away, and there was a lot less traffic back then, same applied when my kids were young. I have seen loads of children on bikes over the past week, many of them seem to be free to roam. Can't understand the parents, or is their attitude that ' no- one is telling me what to do ' ? I have also seen people I know driving like lunatics , what is wrong with them ? It has always been the same, with ' locals ' showing off ( generally to the amusement of the real bikers ) however the roads are now ' lethal ' please use some sense for the sake of your children , yourselves and others on the road. We should no need to be told by the cops, We know about the TT and should set the ' right ' example. right, leave the 'real bikers' all the roads so that they can wrap themselves around the nearest tree and go home in a box without distubing the natives
  18. Sounds like some of the other road users I have encountered the last week or so... You have to apply some logic. There was a pack of 6 riding 2 abreast out past Greeba on the course this morning with bikes flying past them. It's Mad Sunday - I have no sympathy for any of the fuckers. They're just asking to go home in an ambulance. Most of them appear to be arrogant shit-heads who are just doing it to cause annoyance and add to the already dangerous situation on the roads. They won't feel so bloody smug if one of them gets wiped out. but why shouldn't the general public be able to use the puclic roads because bikers can't control their machines ? /tin hat on
  19. that's a stupid place to park for starters !
  20. the sad bit is that there are hundreds who have now got it out of their system and are on their way home, just when a load more hotheads are due to join the fray and cause more chaos
  21. just wait for the diesel sprayer to get started
  22. can't fault customer service this morning, first a txt, then we called and re-arranged an alternative sailing, then we had a phone call to sort out (after we'd already done it). just now need to blag a bed or sofa off family for one night :-)
  23. it may also be cheaper for the SPCo to pay fishermen to not go fishing, and save on repairs and disruption
