It was yesterday. At a guess, the Deemster aborted the case because a new advocate would have to be instructed, advise and decide how to defend the case. That could take a very long time and it would be unreasonable to start with new representation with the same jury who would possibly remember what was previously said. Much better to abort, let new representation advise and start again. Or, if the idea was to continue but self-represent, he thought that was not appropriate in a complex matter. Really don't get the conspiracy.

Not sure that is the obvious conclusion. But, hey, conspire away.
  3. Thanks and, yes, shin is good. Just surprised that these less common cuts of meat are not pushed more I think cheek got a lot of PR from a celeb chef years ago. Just need the same now.
  4. Cheek is a really tasty cut of meat, but so hard to get hold of. When Tesco had the butcher's counter, they sold it, but not now.
  5. Further research shows that with my favourite Manx Dragon sausages at 66% pork (and the same pack weight as my Tesco chipolata comparison), there is a further 3.5 worth of AA batteries of pork missing. (Feel free to check my sums, as it is a light hearted comment.)
  6. Probably want to keep the location secret, but how does that work with planning?
  7. That the point, b*stard Tesco took the 1/12th of the battery out of each sausage.
  8. But it goes on with all supermarkets. Even if there were other supermarkets here, they will be selling similarly manipulated items to preserve their profit. Even good old M&S have reduced the meat content of sausages to the same percentage. What I would be much more concerned about is how Tesco treat local suppliers as they have a reputation for being quite ruthless. There will be standards required and providing they are justified as being a level playing field in the industry, then fine. If they basically screw the margin until the pips squeak, then that is something I would be vocal about. That is where I would be focusing any campaign.
  9. A proper modern facility is indeed necessary, but why that couldn't be achieved in an existing building (with a discrete entrance) is not clear. They managed to re-purpose the airport for a vax centre. You would think that more important than a new building would be adequately trained, sympathetic and caring staff. Let's hope it is not another Summerhill View, and that sufficient staff are available. Would they have to be dedicated or could they be drawn from other areas as and when the need arose?

Is the fact that he has dismissed his advocate relevant? Perhaps wanting to represent himself but after deliberations in Chambers, the court thought the case was too complex to allow that.
  11. For context, that's about the weight of an AA battery, spread over 12 sausages. (Tried to find the comparative weight in elephants or blue whales, but that didn't help.)
  12. We are talking about 24.5 grams on a 350 gram packet. It really is not going to keep me awake. What is in them is on every packet, your choice if the change has made the product inedible for you.
  13. The irony of this is lost on you, isn't it?
  14. The story was that it was always kept stocked with food so shipwrecked sailors could have sustenance while waiting for rescue. Don't know how true that was, but I think it also had an ice cream stand in the heyday of tourism.
  15. Have walked there a few times, once on an organised event. The Tower of Refuge is quite a thing to see up close, it is huge and worth the effort. However, it is easy to see how dangerous it could be if you misjudge the tides, and the distance from shore, so an organised event takes that risk away. Also used as a fundraiser isn't it?
  16. Presumably an organised event with safety precautions that coincides with tide, daylight and at a time when most people can participate.
  17. As I say, haven't researched it, but would imagine it would be muscle attached to bone?
  18. Not researched it, but I seem to remember there was a bit of a to-do many years ago when the percentage of meat in sausages was under the spotlight. At the time all sorts were being chucked in and there was some ruling (possibly EU) that specified that for something to be described as a pork or beef sausage, here had to be a minimum percentage of the meat in the sausage. Don't know what that percentage may be, but if that minimum isn't met, you could only sell them as sausages with pork or with beef, or something like that.

Not genuine but doesn't know where it came from, perhaps?
  20. Indeed, but at least they didn't emblazon them with something about being slightly more acceptable to vegetarians.
  21. But it is on the packet, and you wouldn't buy them again if you didn't like them
  22. You are absolutely correct, Wagon Wheels were huge. I remember Mars bars being significantly bigger as a child (nothing to do with the size of my hand) and the when decimilisation happened, the price changed from 4d to 4p! It was crippling when you sixpence (2 1/2p) pocket money!
