Never send food back to the kitchen .. If you have issues it's worth checking if they can remove the item off the bill ( after you have finished the meal) . Most sensible staff should be asking you if you have not eaten something that you ordered If you feel it was a one off issue its better to be quiet especially if there is a possibility of you visiting again .

Having had some experience in the industry, I never send food back to the kitchen . There is a high risk of the food coming back with extra toppings 😕..

  4. I'm sure that the last cafe there was open even a few years ago . At least it was open till sports direct opened Used to be great on a rainy day .. These days I end up in the tower house.

Has anyone else noticed that restaurants are reducing their expenses by faking food Ordered a lamb curry and I'm sure it's chuck beef 😞
  6. I've driven many 'self charging' hybrids and many of them can travel for a fairly good distance on the electric motor alone ..Several miles for some of them if you are on a flat road The ICE engine only kicks in when you are going up a hill or if the battery is depleted or if you accelerate suddenly..
  7. Why don't the anti EV folk have issues with hybrids..They also have a battery pack and an electric motor in addition to an ICE engine with flammable liquid . The Norwegian ferry company that's been in the headlines due to the EV ban also banned hybrids as well That's conveniently ignored by most people who are afraid of EV fires 🙂 When I checked the data last time around a 3rd of new cars sold in Europe were hybrids.. So I suppose they don't want to talk about it..
  8. Isn't there a EV version of the P50 anyway ...I don't know if anyone has it on the island https://p50cars.com/order/
  9. At least there is a free service here. In the UK you are supposed to make your own way to the hospital. 😞

  11. Want it a diesel Range rover that caused the fire? If the fire was caused due to something illegal then the car owner will have a lot to answer (whether ICE or EV )
  12. I am a Ev owner along with an ICE car and agree that the £65 is too low for any car . As long as the hybrids ( afaik most hybrids are currently on the same band of £65 as the EV ) are also kept on the same band then its fair. I think the baseline VED should be double of what it is now .£130 + for all cars ..
  13. Time to create a Ferry care organisation with another layer of managers and let the steam packet do their work without political interference 🤪
  14. Agree...while I drive an EV I don't think there should be any subsidy etc Market forces should dictate it At least the IOM never had a subsidy for EV cars ( UK did ) . Vehicle tax is also something that needs to go up to around the £160 mark compared to the current £65 .
  15. One of my cars is an EV.. More than any ecological Issues I am more concerned about being held hostage by fossil fuel producing countries.. UK has the capability of being self sufficient if we can reduce the dependence on fossil fuels While I agree that China is burning a load of coal they are also aggressively pushing EV technology to reduce oil usage..

Yes..simple menu..High margins and very active owner involvement . I doubt if they will do meat / chicken dishes . Carbs cheap and protein expensive is a basic fact which many forget .. Basic pizza is £10.90 and the ingredient cost is probably under a quid. Compare this with a steakhouse trying to serve steak for 20 odd quid .. margins will be way lower ..

I think one reason for the success of Just pizza ( in addition to very active owner involvement) is that margins are probably higher than say a restaurant serving steak for example.
  18. I sometimes charge from a standard household 13 amp plug. Afaik all EV's can be charged this way ( its often called a granny charger ) . Only issue is that it's slow .. I get around 5 miles of range per hour of charging vs around 30 miles range per hour from a dedicated 7kw charging point . For use on island even the standard plug will work for most people..

I'm also a fan of Mowgli in the UK. Started off in Liverpool and has worked well. I think they have expanded into quite a bit of the UK https://www.mowglistreetfood.com/
  20. I used to live in the Quay West around 10+ years ago and remember the basement car park . There was an issue with flooding in the area . I don't remember if water actually entered the car park . There were quite a few expensive cars in the basement.. I didn't have a car at the time.
  21. Yes . Thats the rule . But as an EV owner it's frustrating when I see some people just connect to the charging point and leave the car for hours even when it's not charging/ finished charging.. Since its easy to figure out how long a car battery takes to charge with a 7kw charging point ( easy to know the battery capacity per model) I've noticed that many are parked for far longer than it takes to charge. Almost all the time I charge at home as its much cheaper ..But this will be an issue for those without home charging facility..
  22. Planned obsolescence by most manufacturers means that the realistic lifespan of a modern car is maybe 15 years ( probably lesser ) before it gets too expensive to maintain I'm not talking about cars from over 15 or 20 years ago which are still going on fine..They were built to last .. Recent cars have all kinds of electronics on them/ reduced possibility of repair and its all parts replacement in many cases instead of being able to fix a part. Most EV manufacturers give a warranty upto 100k miles or even more and many cars have done much more ..
  23. Brake pads usually last longer on most EV's as the regen does most of the job . In fact on many EV's they do not get used and there is a risk of rust build up . On some cars you can force the actual brake pads to be used by braking ( only when safe to do so ) while in neutral gear .
  24. Always wonder why hybrids are often considered to be fine by those who hate EV's .. is it because that it still has a ICE engine ? After all hybrids still have a traction battery which stores power in and an electric motor just like all EV's .( with all the fire risks etc that people worry about ) Remember the headline article of a Norwegian ferry company banning EV's on board .. The actual article said that even hybrids were banned which was conveniently ignored by most people.. The prius is a very reliable car but Toyota decided to stop selling in the UK due to lack of demand . The new Prius looks much nicer than the old version.. I think it may still be possible to get it from the Irish Market as they are planning to continue selling it there.. I have both an EV and an ICE car . I am realistic about what an EV can do . Its not a practical car for everyone especially if you have to drive long distances . The technology is still very early for mass adoption and there are many drawbacks That's why I've kept my ICE car . But for on island use its brilliant.. I think the current VED rate for an EV is still very low..I believe the UK plans to make it £165 or so in the next few years and I don't have any doubt that IOM will follow. Taxing on basis of weight could be an option.
  25. Off topic but went to Tesco yesterday ( it's been a while since I've gone there) When coming down Bank hill ( going downhill past the steam railway station) and waiting to turn right to tesco , the building opposite ( ? Railway Pub ) seems to have put up a fence blocking visibility of the cars coming towards you over the bridge Saw someone in front of me nearly have an accident as they didn't see the car coming from the left ( cars coming have priority ) Both cars were small ( I think a i10 and a swift ) .. I suppose those who are tall or in an SUV might be okay ..
