  1. It’s absolutely necessary. This will not only enable the victims of sexual assaults to be… it’s hard to put into words, but imagine you’re the victim, “all of that” has just happened to you, the last thing you’d want or need is someone (another stranger) taking swabs and poking around in places that have already been violated - this facility would mean they could be treated with dignity and in a courteous way, a far cry from the olden days where a policeman and nurse would go for a bit more “stranger prodding”. This may also deter fake claims and hopefully save young ones from being falsely accused of sexual assaults. Sexual assault is not OK but too many people think it is, people tolerate inappropriate behaviours and people do wholly inappropriate sexual things to both strangers and friends. I really hope having this facility will encourage more victims to come forward and prevent false accusations.
  2. We went on the walk “with the kids” a couple of years ago, it was a nice thing to do but mostly uneventful and quite boring.
  3. So what will happen is… the schmoozers (who spend 85% of their time at work becoming popular) will keep their jobs, the “working” people (who just goto work and get on with things but are not popular) will be let go - the work will not be done and there will be a massive cry of “see I told you so”. This isn’t specifically a government problem, lots of workplaces are full of non working schmoozers and bosses that have been promoted out of harms way, it’s a miracle that anything ever gets done. Well no, there are zillions of inefficient practices all over the place but I guess that’s what keeps the wheels turning and enables the hamsters to get Latte’s and Krispy Creme donuts. /roll eyes
  4. Oh my mistake. I didn’t realise she’d moved away, it makes sense ofc, she was a school friend to my daughter who also no longer lives here…(in spite of my attempts to get her to go for the deputy head of RGHS job…) Anyway, I remember her from here so she’s sort of Manx and she’s done good so - sorry for my false celebration and also not sorry because it came from a good place. Ye miserable ald gits!
  5. A local lady won Interior Design Masters on the BBC! Isn’t that just great? Well done to her 🥰
  6. Which is why we all pay our taxes and see them wasted on totally mental ideas, from films to solar panels and double glazing for “their mates” while there’s no investment in infrastructure. The rates (and a massive wedge left by Henry Bloom Noble) should be taking care of the parks but seemingly there is a no maintenance program at the city council.
  7. Don’t encourage them, next thing you know the entire parks committee will have to goto the park stuff exhibition in Birmingham to decide what other rubbish they can waste money on. It’s been years since my kids were young enough for me to take them to the park and even then the park equipment was poorly maintained and a bit emperor's new clothesy. Children want swings, roundabouts and slides, it is that simple.
  8. In true fashion of “the internet” I hope everyone is OK but did actually only come here to find out what was going on… Do light planes really need to be using the commercial landing strips? My friend has a small plane and he can land mostly anywhere that it’s flat (or at least I think that’s what he said) ETA - light planes are not the same as microlights my error, sorry
  9. No, not at all, the majority of people that I know with drug problems had terrible lives, bad company, bad parents, absolutely nothing good in their lives, let’s be honest, if your life is so ace why would you want to take heroin? It’s not that good so anyone who takes it really does have nothing worth living for. The “have some more to make yourself better” mentality astounds me, how is anyone that stupid? I had pethidine when I had my daughter 30 years ago, never been so sick in all my days, aside from the sick, it was really nice but on the scale of fun to pain and inconvenience, I don’t think I’d have more (ever). I won’t even have Co-codamol these days & ibuprofen gives me nightmares so I’m lucky to be healthy and not in pain, I know people that became addicted to drugs their doctor prescribed, I have sympathy for anyone with addictions… off for a quick game of solitaire …3 hours later It’s never simple though.
  10. Not really amazing, unsurprising more so 😕
  11. Yes! The Isle of Man card has now also arrived, from Foxdale to Douglas in less than two weeks - stunning!
  12. The post there is fine, takes a while but gets there eventually.
  13. well… one of my cards has now been delivered- point of fact, I travelled to the Bulgarian version of Cregneash and back before a card posted before I left made it to Berkshire- witnoaf?
  14. Neither of the cards (which were hand made) have been delivered - absolutely gutted 😕
  15. Same story here but my point of posting was Foxdale, I posted cards a week last Wednesday ago, thinking they would get to the people before I’d get to see them… I’ve been to Europe and back (well, not quite back yet because my flight today has been cancelled) but my cards have not been delivered, one was only going from Foxdale to Douglas a pigeon would have had it delivered more efficiently! The Post Office was ace but now it’s just another profit driven pile of corporate bull, with no care or concern for its customers! Seemingly they couldn’t afford to lay people off, poor service get worse. I remember when you posted a letter or card in the evening and it was delivered the following day, shame.
  16. 31 thousand + posts, that’s a lot.
  17. My daughter is Head of Humanities at her school (I know, very proud of her) they have mostly Muslim students and the majority are well behaved, grateful for education and studious. Not all kids are bad … just the entitled ones 😂 There was a spate of TikTok videos of children vandalizing toilets, perhaps it’s preventing things like that going on?
  18. The majority of “I wouldn’t have a teacher telling my kid what to do” posts are by people who could probably do with a bit of education themselves.
  19. Oh dear lord - this is ace! I’m away but if I wasn’t away, I’d be flag waving ( if I didn’t have to work)
  20. Have you any idea what “the revolution will not be televised” is about? Not in the least bit relevant to our political culture- we live in Disney land compared to those people.
  21. Happy birthday Manx Forums and thanks to all the lovely people that make it happen Shall we have a trip to Port Erin to celebrate?

    ICE 2024

It took us ages to get a business bank account opened which seems strange in light of the news stories about cloned businesses with bank accounts and over drafts etc.
  23. Just watched the ITV documentary, a tough watch but I’m glad I watched it. I had no idea. Terrible tragedy.
  24. People hated it when it was first proposed.
  25. Huge fan of Bryan Kneale’s, there is a great painting by him in the Natural History Museum in London, we already have The Watcher at the museum, Marina in the Villa, the 3 legs at the airport, to name a few, I don’t know what people are moaning for. Perhaps the people commenting on Facebook don’t care about art so much? I’m sure there is significance in where he wants to put it and Im sure it would be safe enough, who would go all that way to vandalize it?
