  1. You have a lot of experience as a seafarer then i take it ?
  2. Another punter who does not know the dangers of a severe force 9 gale warning, good job the steam packet knows more than you, for everyones safety
  3. As i understand it, they import it at about 5p a unit and sell it to you and me for 16p. At times when the uk is short, they generate our own and export power for a very good return. So you can have a fully staffed power station importing power and no generators running. The staff just monitor the distribution.
  4. If they want to put it there, you will discover the power cable as soon as the 1st liner starts up it bow thrusters as it will wash the top of the cable trench away, such is the output of these thrusters
  5. Nearest tug is probably in Liverpool anyway
  6. You see reports of court cases involving people arrested for being drunk and arrested after fighting or causing trouble, he was drinking in a named pub where he had a huge lot of booze, this comes out in court but no sanction against the pub. More interested in the cash, time to fine the pub for serving him
  7. They say they are very busy with financial crime, you would think that would be the remit of the financial supervision people or what ever they call them selves these days. I know they are very short of people and also lack of money. Its 1 of those jobs where wages are the biggest chunk of the budget, so little room to do much if short of readies
  8. The pontoon in monte carlo is close in plus it is not very tidal, if at all in the med. I have seen a 26000 ton cruise ship on it, no problem
  9. Relativly speaking, its not a big deal to increase the water depth, it just dends how far out you have to go with the dredging
  10. Interesting , but have never come across this type of injection. Not modern practice yet althrough there are dual fuel engines which can use gas or liquid fuel
  11. Its certainly not modern practice, althrough they are building ships with gas tanks and dual fuel diesels. Gives the option to use gas as a fuel in the future, but no mention of mixing gas and heavy fuel. You could inject gas in a similar way to liquid fuel but have to slow down the combustion rate to prevent shock loads .
  12. So you are going to mix propane with the charge air and put this in a very hot cylinder- then inject heavy fuel at over 140 C into this mix. An explosive mixture into a hot unit and inject more fuel. Will be a very big bang i bet and lots of holes in the engine. Think i will keep clear of this mad experiment
  13. What can be blended with Propane ? Not liquid fuel for sure
