  1. Well HD, It is a 'LOCAL' business. Where would you suggest this honest appraisal should go, to warn others who could make the same mistake of going there.
  2. I have a very excited future wife who today had an appointment with 'Aurora Brides' in Onchan for help with the purchase of her Wedding dress after seeing one very close to her liking in Aurora's storefront window. Sadly, what an incredible disaster the visit turned out to be. As I obviously wasn't there at this exciting time, to accuse someone of being supercilious and frankly absolutely obnoxious you have to be sure of the facts. Accompanying my future wife was her best friend, a friendly and outspoken lady, along with my sister who is a sophisticated and intelligent woman and another very good friend who is a clever retired teacher. All relayed the same story. This initially exciting visit, which was simply looking for good advice on what my future wife would desire for her wedding dress was met with quite an unbelievable attitude, and I mean real attitude of, well, frankly, arrogance an overbearing disdainfulness and dismissal of my fiance's wishes. With a very big emphasis on arrogance. This episode left me angry that it spoilt what should have been a happy, lovely occasion and, WONDERING JUST HOW MANY CUSTOMERS ACTUALLY PURCHASED ONE OF HER DRESSES after this sort of dreadful experience?? Anyone else suffered the indignity of having to deal with this woman?
  3. You all should read this....bone chilling! Once you introduce Religion into this desperate situation, it really does add an immediate increase in the fear that this could escalate into a world wide third world war. Very frightening prospect, courtesy of Religion.
  4. UPDATE: Been to retrieve said items. Although relieved to have recovered them, only 9 out of roughly 15. (selective honesty)? Missing are a couple of Buddhas, a quite tall standing Goose, a couple of Meerkats (in character!), and a small sheep!! Again thanks to all for your support and understanding about the emotional aspect.
  5. Thank you to everyone for your kind concern over these missing sentimental garden animals. The good news is they have been returned to the garden overnight 👍🙂
  6. No, we went from discovering these 15 or so missing items directly to Braddan commissioners, who while sympathetic to the situation confirmed none of their own teams or independant clearance company had been authorised to enter the premises. Attached please find a photo of some of the items.
  7. Will put up a photo of a few of them in the morning...good idea thanks.
  8. Always one. You have my sympathy.

    Sadness!

Spent the last few weeks slowly moving the future Mrs from 7 Close-Y-Lhergy to her new home. Got everything except around 15 stone figures from the rear garden, a lot of these belonged to her late Mum, so obviously of great sentimental value. We obtained permission from Braddan Commissioners to pick them in a couple of days, that was the day before yesterday. Went to pick them up this morning and, you guessed it they're gone. Please if it's you who has removed them thinking they were not needed, get in contact with the commissioners to return them. We don't need to know who you are, so no embarrassment necessary. Please help folks, it's important. Like Comment Share

While the rest of the world, even faraway places, Islands smaller than ours have LIVE webcams showing themselves off to the entire planet, ENCOURAGING TOURISM TO THOSE PLACES, our so called 'live' webcams, provided by IOMG refresh every 30 seconds or so....supposedly. This morning, wanting to see even still shots of Peel or the mountain, and how this storm was building I was offered photo's recorded 3 DAYS AGO!! We really are quite backward in terms of some technology, for an Island that boasts of being a leader in communications!
  12. After almost 40 years in broadcasting in many guises I thought I might have something to offer when the Communications Commission was looking for someone to join their 'team', especially when I saw the current lot with only limited qualifications/experience if any. You'd think I might be a suitable candidate for such a relatively unpaid position. Certainly not! I got a response which almost said because of my history with this industry....thanks for your interest, but no thanks!
  13. Troops, Tanks & Bombs in 2022....Two thousand and twenty-two years!! Didn't two world wars, Vietnam and countless other bloodbaths teach us anything?
  14. Correct, but we shouldn't forget Alan Jackson's excellent and emotional contribution reporting the disaster as it was happening.
  15. Worked alongside TC for around 30 years, a true gentleman of the old school. Loved sharing his vast knowledge to those he thought would benefit from it and sometimes his very personal experiences too. Intended to visit him at Ian Cannell court, sadly, mostly due to this horrible Covid pandemic I never did. Both to say hello and to give him a copy of an article he wrote in a 1970's local magazine where he lambasted certain local politicians for lack of insight, foresight and basic common sense without self interest. Nothing much seems to have changed has it!! RIP Tel, I am so pleased and in full gratitude for having known you. i
  16. Little Moroccan boy Rayan, trapped in a well since Tuesday, brought out deceased after tremendous human efforts to save him. Where were you Lord?, where were you. Any wonder so many, brought up to believe in a benevolent, caring Jesus Christ, like myself turn away. The clergy say that he does not interfere with things like this, well he did in the past if the bible's miracles are to be believed. When asking relevant questions to the local priest about things like this, we, as Catholics, not allowed to attend assembly at Ballakermeen were told 'It was simply a question of faith' Really. Where were you Lord, where were you.
  17. My Alienware laptop has the Flightmode icon greyed out and as a result when I slide the Bluetooth button to ON it immediately pops back to OFF?!?! This happened as soon as the machine was updated to Win10. Anyone know of a cure/workaround to solve this problem? Cheers.
  18. Quilp yes you're spot on there, not Burtons, Alexanders the tailors!
  19. Back in the 1960's it was Burtons Tailors on that corner, had a pin stripe suit with a Victorian style rolled collar made for my trip overseas. Cost (paid for over 6 weeks)....£6. 19.11.
  20. Still at the hospital. She went to her GP initially because of the announcements concerning A&E'S problems....Didn't help!! Just got home now...6 hours at Nobles! Manx Care, where's any improvement over the old 'regime'
  21. Side effect.....you ain't juss whislin' Dixie!!
  22. I did actually 'bleed all over the place' in A&E for over 3 hours recently. The problem was solved by a lovely doctor in less than 7 minutes. Is it down to lack of experience/empathy by initial triage?
  23. What a dreadful situation. My partner, in dreadful, real pain in her hand of unknown reason has a GP appointment at just before 4 today, He's concerned enough to send her for an X-Ray. It's now almost 7pm, no X-Ray yet, no analysis of that, she'll be, if she's lucky, there until at least 9pm, at the earliest! Manx Care...really.....that's a prime example of a misnomer if I ever witnessed one.
