  1. I have also struggled with Loganair's payment process. They key is, I think, to say your credit card home address is in the UK, not the IOM, and then it works. Alternatively book the same flights using British Airways' website. Sometimes its a little more expensive for the same flight, but at other times much the same price - with the added benefit of Avios.
  2. Speaking from personal experience, I strongly recommend yin yoga practice, for easing back pain and sciatica. Deep stretches held for 3, 4, 5 minutes at a time and both a physical and mental challenge. There are plenty of YouTube videos, but better is the studio above the furniture shop on Bucks Road which has classes most days.
  3. Can I ask those who know; I am planning to travel on the evening flight to Gatwick next week, for a few days away. If I park at the airport and download and pay for 3 days parking using the ringco app, what happens if the flight gets cancelled? Do I only get charged for the hour or so that I would be parked at the airport?
  4. I recently returned from foreign parts via Dublin which worked well.
  5. UPF isn't real food, it is industrially produced, edible food-like substance. Dense in calories, light in nutrients. Manufactured not with the objective of delivering nutrition to the consumer, but profit to the manufacturer. In the 1940's the Germans manufactured butter from coal. Today this sounds unbelievable and disgusting, but from what materials are today's foods made? Mad_Manx above talks about bread. I used to enjoy the fresh M&S bakery bread, until I read the label. Every loaf I picked up contained emulsifiers, preservatives and artifical ingredients. Every M&S sandwich is made from UPF bread. Its near impossible to avoid. There are dozens of different industrial emulsifiers approved for use by British food manufacturers. It is generally accepted / proven that emulsifiers are bad for the body. Like a detergent, they strip the gut and kill the microbiome which is essential for good health. The supermarkets shelves are loaded, and our waistlines are growing, so you would think we live in a time of abundance. But how long until the UPF manufacturers are called to account for the impact to health caused by their products, in the same way that cigarette manufacturers were?

    Irony

that made me smile...dont give him ideas 😜

  8. For €100,000 yearly tax committment, Italy will give HNWIs residency and, after 5 years, a european passport. While that's out of my league, if I was a HNWI it wouldn't be hard to choose between Italy and IOM for quality of life. IOM wins on personal security, which is important, but not much else.

    Sigh

I'd say that we are all directly affected. We are all poorer, as it is the increased burden of taxes that pays for government mismanagement. If Douglas prom and Liverpool Terminal had been professionally managed and come in on budget, what stealth and other taxes might we have avoided?
  10. Simply put, I thought the perpetrator might have shown some courtsey and left a note admitting to the damage. Or someone might have reported seeing it. Or there might be CCTV.
  11. My car was badly scratched in the Ronaldsway car park. Naturally the airport's response was "tough". Since then, my airport parking has been 100% with ASP or Mylchreests. I'd rather support local businesses who provide an actual service and take care of your car. This Parking App nonsense simply reinforces my decision.
  12. We already pay £13 APD tax per journey from the Isle of Man. Which is an air travel tax which benefits the Government pocket to the tune of £7M+ a year. It is disingenuous of the report to simply dismiss this air travel tax when discussing the island's sole outlet for air travel.
  13. I've never bumped into anyone from the island whilst on holiday, and there's probably a A320's worth of Manxies in Tenerife / Majorca at any one time. So what if they travel there on the same plane. On arrival, everyone just goes their own villa / hotel.
  14. Last month I flew into Belfast International which had thick fog sitting on the runway. The Easyjet pilot advised that we were to have an automatic landing and asked all passengers to turn off their electronic devices. Not just put into flight safe mode, but actually power down. Never beem asked that before, I assume that Belfast International has the "bells & whistles" landing system that Ronaldsway really needs?
  15. In the USA, the TSA treats older passengers with more respect. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/special-procedures/screening-passengers-75-and-older "Risk-based intelligence-driven security"...can you imagine that at Ronaldsway
  16. Seems strange that HSBC will provide credit cards to IOM residents but Iisle of Man Bank won't. I know that neither bank is incorporated here. So are the banks simply taking their own different "risk based approach"?
  17. The Spanish and Scottish examples reflect travel within the same country. Tenerife to Madrid: a domestic Spanish route. Stornoway to Ullapool: a domestic UK route. Are there any examples of a cross border PSO route, such as Liverpool to Douglas would be?
  18. Something needs to be happen to the site, and soon. The structural supports which are blocking half of the road (walkway?) are a proper eyesore
  19. Liverpool airport. On exiting the short stay car park, drive up to the barrier, and waive your credit card at the machine. Barrier raises. Drive out. Simple.
  20. Practically, how would I arrange this? This doesn't appear as an option on Easyjet's website so would you phone them (spending an indeterminate time on hold) or would you buy a new Logainair ticket and write to Easyjet, asking to be reimbursed?
  21. Amsterdam and Singapore have had those since pre-covid times, and plenty of other places no doubt!
  22. What a sad and embarrassing indictment of what should be a small island government run for the benefit of its residents, not the reverse.
  23. Same problem here. Please let us know if you manage to resolve this.
