Pothole Watch

Potholes on Sulby Glen Road, adjacent to the Water Treatment works, on the really narrow section, so impossible to avoid they have been there about 6 months and increasing in size every week, with the volume of traffic using this road, which will increase soon when the prison is fully operational.

Just a reminder that anyone can ring the Sea Terminal up and report any potholes they come across. A quick search on the Government website came up with numbers and email addresses. The Sea Terminal number is 01624 686600. Source = IOM Government Index of Departments

Or you can ring the Works Division direct on 850000. Source D.O.T Works Division

The entire Archallagan Road, most notibly a huge chunk out of the Douglas bound side right on the location of that bad accident some months ago, any car hitting it at speed it would hook them straight off the road into the ditch.

The two holes on the roundabout coming out of Tescos, by the bus station.

Whilst potholes are an excellent item to focus on parts of the Castletown -Douglas road even make the roads in County Cork feel smooth (and they are amongst the worst in Ireland). The surface is in poor condition and feels as if the foundations were not properly constructed - like driving on a washboard.

There are a run of potholes near the centre of the road, on the Ramsey to Sandygate road, on the Ramsey side of Sandygate, opposite the junction to Summerhill Road, the wheels of my bike always get caught in them as I turn into Summerhill Road. Also some deep ones in the edges of Summerhill Road and Jurby Road, which are disguised now due to the overgrown verges in the area. Can't miss them when the 4 x 4's come towards you and force you off the road, as they think their vehicles are only made for tarmac, not grass!!

About 400/500 metres up Sound Road on the left hand side heading away from the Sound Cafe. Also one developing on corner College Road and Bowling Green Road, Castletown - more like a mini trench than a pothole - maybe part of all the digging going on round there.
