kevster
Teaching Americans geography Safeguarding our oil supplies A neat ruse to get Mrs Thatcher back into Number 10 - Ok, maybe that wasn't good. Increased profits for weapons industry - check the number of ex MPs who have directorships in this area of 'commerce' WWII kept Dickie Attenborough and John Mills through the hard times post war And, it keeps my niece in a job (she's a Chinook pilot in the RAF)

La_Dolce_Vita
Do you mean war between nation states or just conflicts in general? If the latter, then there could be many reasons for what they are for.

Stu Peters
Your niece has my dream job. I fucking love chinooks. Me too - this is me loading tape while the RAF door gunner loaded bullets during a weekend in Kosovo ten years ago. It was VERY hot (hence the sunburnt face) and I was on the first RAF Chinook to land at Pristina after the Russians gave it back. Got some amazing footage on the return sortie flying in formation at low level hanging out over the loading ramp. Edited to add: This had a girl pilot too, who had started flying with the UAS at Woodvale near Southport. Bloody good at it she was, too.
