manxland
Hiya I am wanting to buy a few things from Argos, they are only little things. Does anyone know any carries that would get them items for me and deliver them to me and how much you think it would be
mojomonkey
Looking at the delivery info on the Argos website I don't think they deliver to the Island.
x-in-man
which is the reason for the question! I have had stuff delivered to family in the uk and posted on from there. Any of the main carriers should be able to quote uk to iom for larger items.
Addie
We had a Homebase kitchen (Argos sister company) from Liverpool Aintree Shop and delivered for approximately £100.00 by Island Express. Both companies offered excellent service.

GD4ELI
Tesco direct are apparently darkening our doors soon. Doesn't that depend on planning approval for the current site?
Ixia
Hi just been into Tesco and seen the sign above the Tobacco till - asked and was told it started today and it is FREE delivery if you get it delivered to the store rather than to your house
Tweek
I know a guy in Sheffield who does delivery, including washing machine, for £100, as long as you don't ask too many questions. I asked him a question once, and he hit me, so I haven't bothered asking him anything else since then. Tough city that Sheffield.

Snowflake
apparently everything in the catalogue. Not that I approve, loss of small independants can only result and Tesco can organise the proverbial in a brewery, so I don't hold out much hope with large items and collecting. Addie
...and Tesco can't organise the proverbial in a brewery, so I don't hold out much hope with large items and collecting. Quote fixed. You can say that again. I ordered two sofas and they sent three!
Yessir
I tried to buy a push motor mower and was quoted £60 extra for delivering "offshore". The company use TNT. How can a box that size be £60 but a car with two passengers on the SPC be £65.50??? Makes the SPC seem like a bargain. I am still left with the problem that buying a mower here that is not as good, will still cost me a lot more. Can someone start a list of companies that are friendly to the Island? One such is Amazon. The last item I bought from them was a freezer which they delivered to my door free in 4 days. MEA (Ramsey)wanted £30 more for the same freezer but what made me walk out of their door was that they wanted £20 on top to deliver it 2 miles and when I offered to take it in the boot of my car if they would give me a hand, said their staff were "not insured to help customers lift goods". And my MHK tells me that MEA Retail is running at a loss! I am at a loss for words!!
thebees
Right, if you spend money in the UK they get the VAT, the Isle of man is skint, can't you spend your money here?
Mission
I'm betting most people don't care, let's see how the thread shapes up. Still, there's always a boat when the shit hits the fan, that or we all go back to living off the land (spuds and Herring).
