Here we have a bishop of the Church of England getting arrested on suspicion of sexual offences against boys. mad.gif He describes Prince Charles as a loyal friend.blush.png

It is good to see that it is not just Catholic priests who are being outed, makes a nice change and a bit closer to the reality.biggrin.png

I should imagine Prince Charles is sweating like a pig in a butchers shop right now. devil.gifsweatingbullets.gif

But only if Prince Charles describes the bishop as a "loyal friend". Some people have been known to tell "porkies".

I have gay friends but they may be offended if you assumed they were straight because I am.

Why should Prince Charles be sweating? Just having a friend who is accused of wrongdoing does not indicate that you are involved.

Now Sir Cyril Smith has been accused of spanking and fondling.

Yes, keep the reports of deceased paedos coming. The less likely that people might question the sexual habits of present day politicians. Something tells me that people don't change.

exactly it is safe to attack the dead ones, but it is the living who really matter and sure as day follows night these people are still doing what they do.

We must expose what goes on and support the real police, roll back d notices, ignore gagging orders and open the dunblane archives.

Even Elmo has been at it

Or was it consensual and between two adults? BBC Link

Some countries have varying ages of consent depending upon the age of two parties - two 16 year olds consensually experimenting not a criminal issue, a 40 year old and a teenager far more problematic.

Consent is a really really complex subject when there are power, authority and age differentials.

Some people look for sex in a predatory manner, using people for their own sexual gratification. Vulnerable people are at extreme risk from such predators and our sexualised society is at times unable to see this - the attitudes of the Rochdale social workers to the young girls exploited in that town's abuse scandal are a good example.

I suspect that the lines between being sexually active, to being promiscuous, to being predatory aren't clear. People can regret and feel they have been pressured to place themselves within the spectrum of sexual activity - the issue is when is this a criminal matter, rather than a moral or social one.

I've no simple answers, but do wonder if a variable age of consent is worth while considering.

Tell us more about the D notices - how many, order by who, when...

D notices are effectively secret censorship, unless you work in the media you will not actually know about them.

You will have to work backwards from sources that will not obey the "requests" such as foreign news agencies, news media that are in some way rebel or blogspots with some reputation.

When you have gathered the same story from different sources you can compare them and see which bits are missing from the mainstream.

Irish republican newspapers generally have a blanket d notice in the established media so that is as good a place as any to start.

If they are secret, how do you know they happened? D notices are not legally enforceable and only function if media organisations agree - as happened in matters of national defence during the Cold War. In this day and age they are totally ineffective as the internet allows anything to be published anywhere.

If Tony Blair, for example, had issued a D notice requesting a senior cabinet member's involvement in a child porn scandal be hushed up in the UK, there is, as you say, nothing to prevent a French, German or Italian magazine running the story. Can you post a scan of a press cutting, from a genuine media source, or a link to a genuine media source which reports such an instance.

Or can you just shut the fuck up and fuck off?

So is a UK ban enforcable in the IOM? Can we mention the unmentionable name?
