boswellian
And when the official media sources on the island tell us that a lady is being tried for abducting her own child and then reports no further except to inform us of the outcome, there have obviously been reporting restrictions in place. Yet we are unaware of these. They don't seem to be mentioned. You don't suppose they are unmentionable, do you?
Lonan3
My immediate 'supposition' would be that the local media have reported according to their usual abysmally low standards.

Agreed that the standards are abysmal. However, they are selectively abysmal. Other court cases are reported in detail.
boswellian
So has his Lordship been a longstanding victim of bad press? It's odd. Anyway, guess what - the Lords want to drop Teresa May's proposed inquiry into the Waterhouse inquiry! Why on earth would they be in favour of that? http://www.politics.co.uk/news/2012/11/14/peers-want-probe-into-child-abuse-inquiry-dropped

The press seem to run away from family court stuff and anything involving children in care. it does not actually mater if it is d notices at work or career termination as a result of touching these subjects. That's why internet forums and blogging sites are so important.

censorship
If Tony Blair, for example, had issued a D notice requesting a senior cabinet member's involvement in a child porn scandal be hushed up in the UK, there is, as you say, nothing to prevent a French, German or Italian magazine running the story So is a UK ban enforcable in the IOM? Can we mention the unmentionable name? It isn't a 'ban' as such and isn't enforceable anywhere. Before jumping into bed with this dickhead, do a bit of research on what a D notice actually is.Even if it were an effective ban, no, there would be nothing to stop us breaking it on here. CrossRoss
Uncle Nasty has really got his knickers in a twist. Is your passport up to date? Is there any particular reason the paedo stuff would upset you? Have you enough cash to get you to .........ooh say Thailand in a hurry? "This is the latest effort by Downing Street spin doctors and certain media executives and hired writers, to shut down any serious debate on paedophiles in power, and close the doors on any more fruitful external or internal investigations. They really hope to end it here with Jimmy Savile and Sir Peter Morrison, and maybe throw in the clown Gary Glitter for good measure." This is a quote from here http://21stcenturywire.com/2012/11/11/an-attempt-to-erase-history-bbc-and-downing-street-hope-entwistle-sacking-will-stop-the-hemoraging-of-public-confidence/ Uncle Nasty, are you manxforum's very own Charlie Veitch? P.K. Yet we are unaware of these. They don't seem to be mentioned. You don't suppose they are unmentionable, do you? Like you I'm guessing because like you I don't have all the facts however a very valid reason for a lack of media reporting on current court cases is because there is a real danger that the trial could be prejudiced by what the media reports. So it's actually the press being responsible rather than some giant conspiracy with D notices and all the rest of your stupid guff you clown. Don't forget to name names when the great peadophile exodus begins. I for one can't wait to read them all....
Lonan3
I know 'Godwin's Law' applies to mention of nazis and/or hitler - but is there one for mentioning David Icke. You know, something like 'Loon's Law'?
CrossRoss
Now ex-BBC radio 1 DJ Dave Lee Travis is arrested http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/jimmy-savile/9680420/Dave-Lee-Travis-arrested-as-part-of-Jimmy-Savile-sex-abuse-probe.html Not really sure about the details of DLT's arrest but I hope he gives full disclosure in exchange for amnesty. http://chris-ukorg.org/cover-ups/jimmy-saville-witch-hunt-or-paedophile/ This is one of the more tame links tying up Jimmy Savile with Jonathan King and now Dave Lee Travis.
