2bees
Give Chris a ring Cronky, he's not some NEET that will believe a shop owner when he says he is computer expert & hand over the money, he is thorough. Many government experts are as you describe, Chris Thomas would see straight through them, they don't just make you senior lecturer at a poly/uni...know? Torry loon
Chris Thomas manifesto: >>Reduce the number of full time politicians from 33 to 24, with additional part-time ‘elder statesmen’ and outside experts for policy review and development<< And who, pray, would be responsible for appointing these part-time ‘elder statesmen’ and outside experts ? And to whom would these cronies be accountable? Our wider community has people with good experience - and yes, expertise - in their particular fields. They can offer much to help our situation but how often do we hear that an MHK is not paid enough to attract such people into the political arena? 33 down to 24. The Legislative Council is no longer a valued source of experience, expertise and knowledge (see Geoff for details). It had a purpose 50-100+ years ago. It has no place in the modern world. It has no place in the Isle of Man. What the hell are we still doing paying these people? Bar very few, they are the true cronies. They need to go and in general they do very little to help our nation.

cheeky boy
About 200 turned up, not all of them could get in IOMOnline: 120 pack into hall to hear candidates Yeah, yeah...I bet you tell all the girls you've got an eight inch wotsit too. Chef knife I mean. It's only eight inches if I fold it in half
EORH
How about getting rid of Legco, and doubling the number of MHKs to 48,and cutting the present 24 MHKs salaries by 50% to pay for it,same with the pensions, and bring in a 100% contribution to the pension, that should save money in the long run, also if the present incumbents agree,it will show they are thinking about the people and the Island and not their own pockets.
