The Future Of Core Air Links To The Island

You are pretty much in the hire company's hands as far as damage is concerned. I've been stung even on Island for "damage" that was claimed not to be there when I collected the vehicle. On return, the sun was shining on the vehicle and they claimed that a small dimple (not even enough to be called a dent) was sustained during the hire. It wasn't. It had been there all along and on the dull collection you wouldn't even have noticed it. They presented a bill for £275 reduced to £75 when I pointed out that I had taken the premium to reduce the excess. Their loss. Never touched 'em since.

Had a similar experience, pin prick sizes dent (from the inside) , paint not even cracked, could only be seen when looking down the side of the van.

Striped for £300 based on a mickey mouse one line estimate from a local "bodywork specialist".

Would not give them or the "bodywork specialist" any future business and have advised many to give them both a "swerve" lol

with these days of camera phones, looks a good idea to take quite a few snaps before you head off?

Photographs do not prove anything (it is trivial to change embedded metadata dates) - and there is anyhow no process for submitting them. Also - when you sign for a car you agree to the terms and conditions.

It's always a bit of a lottery. The thing that pisses me off is that if I get given a car with dents and scrapes all over the place I don't get it for a reduced price, but you can bet they've charged the previous hirers a few hundred quid for each tiny little mark, and all in they'll probably only reduce the sale value by a couple of hundred quid after the year or two that hire cars stay with the company.

When I lived in Australia there was a local hire company called 'rent-a-wreck' or something like that. Cars were mechanically sound, apparently, but they didn't bother about scuffs and dents.

Mine was a van too. Maybe it's the same "dent" and they charge everyone for it!! Nice little earner.

i'd be taking the vehicles reg and vin number on collection and taking a few pictures and a video. if they come up with some BS see if you can find it on the video or stills. if you have to pay up anything eventually go back a month later and see if the repair has been made to the vehicle, i don't think they can charge you for work not yet done based on an estimate, it might be fraud.
