That's a shame. There's enough pressure on elderly care without that happening.    Although it is surprising it can't make a profit. Assuming that is why it closed.

It can't make current regs, plenty more to follow.

Kings Reach is owned by Four Seasons Health Care.  They had some financial problems last year and the Wiki history gives a fairly typical story of over-expansion, ownership by various investment funds and over-valued property portfolios.  Whether there is a wider problem or whether this is the usual mantra of 'concentrating on the core business' (ie management can't be bothered with somewhere far from where they live), I don't know.

Care home sector should not be subject to the vagaries of property speculation and private equity ownership for a quick buck. They should be run in the third sector along housing association lines with charitable status and fees set for operation and maintenance only and not for profit.
