thesultanofsheight
As suicide missions go it’s a pretty creative way to die looking at the video footage http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6049669/Commercial-airliner-hijacked-Seattle-Tacoma-Airport-say-reports.html Unbelievable it can happen in our terrorism obsessed airports. It then again the US has a vey lax attitude to airport security.
WTF
i'm not sure yet why it's being called a hijack, empty plane gets taken for fly, if it was a car it would taken without consent or stolen to be a carjacking there'd have to be threats of violence or actual violence to a person. nicking an unoccupied plane gets called a hijack ?? must be more to this or the wording has been chosen to shift the blame maybe. if someone left the keys in the ignition so to speak they may be in a bit of bother. The guy worked at the airport so don't think lax security can be blamed here it's not like he jumped over a fence or hijacked a plane
Albert Tatlock
Hijack is correct usage IMO. It can mean either take whilst on a journey or not with people onboard or not Obviously it's used more often on stories on journeys. Same could be said for hijacking a car or idea. Hijack ( in transport ) means taking control by force or threats whilst in transit/enroute. The plane was stationary, on the ground, there are no reports of violence, threats etc. It’s theft, not hijacking

Shake me up Judy
It's very hard to understand how someone who's not even aircrew can steal/hijack a modern airliner from an international airport like he did. Are there no security codes on the flight-deck ? Did he pass himself off as the pilot or something ? There's a lot more to this story still to come out. It could take a while. ballaughbiker
No security codes SMUJ but it's a bit unclear if he was just a ground handler or a technician of some sort. The latter would have detailed knowledge of the a/c systems.

mad_manx
Aircrafts do not have ignition keys like cars . If you have access to the flight deck you can fly the aircraft

the stinking enigma
Fair play to the guy. The barrel roll before skimming the sea surface was one of the greatest stunts i have ever seen. He didn't kill nobody, only himself. Not a bad way to go really
TheTeapot
It was a robot controlled Qanon test that went wrong according to some of the odder parts of the internet. Or there was a missile launch just before it and this plane was a distraction from the F-15s blowing up the antifa SAM battery on some little island. ballaughbiker
Said this morning on the wireless that he had no formal pilot training at all and wasn't a technician. I am surprised he didn't crash it sooner.
