Par for the course. Multitudes turned up to watch the escalator in the Strand Centre when it first opened. It was like the second coming of the Messiah. I was quite new to the Island then, so it surprised me. The opening of McDonalds was similar in a way. I believe it became the best performing outlet per catchment in the franchise. Strange.
