Grounds Keeper Willy
This looks like an interesting piece of potentially backfiring PR. Intended to get people voting for them in a major biker cafe competition no doubt but £11 for breakfast? Really? Do people really pay £11 for a breakfast in the IOM? They perhaps shouldn’t be getting an award for their food but perhaps should be getting an award for their business acumen in getting away with being able to charge people such a massive amount of money for a basic brekkie. The view is apparently lovely though. That must be worth at least £4. http://www.iomtoday.co.im/article.cfm?id=53261

Derek Flint
The worst chips I have ever known. Even given three chances they couldn’t get them right. Excellent staff though. the best breakfasts on island I would say are now at Ramsey Swimming Pool Cafe

It sort of goes in the face of all the negative stats though doesn’t it? We’re clearly all wealthy enough to spend £3 on fuel driving down to The Sound to spend £11 on brekkie. A pub lunch and a few pints in the George on the way back is probably another £50 at H & B prices if you really want to push the boat out.
display name
It was £6.00 for a burger in there in 2008,so maybe it's not that big a rip off. No,forget that,it's been a rip off for years
Non-Believer
Fortunately it's cleaner in there now than it was a couple of years back. It used to be filthy. £11 for a cooked brekky in there (or anywhere short of the Ritz) is taking the piss though. Plenty of places doing just as good a meal for less than that. You've got to remember that once the average biker has paid their Steam Packet bill, anything Isle of Man related is going to look like a cheapie. Actually looking at the list in the MCN article, the place in Shoreditch[1] also charges £10.95 for breakfast[2], and at least here you get to look at seals rather than hipsters. [1] Which looks exactly as Shoreditch as you expected it to be and is inevitably in a railway arch on Old Street. [2] Yes of course there's sourdough bread involved. Max Power
Quite frankly some of the breakfast prices in various 'trendy' establishments on this island are bloody bordering on criminal. Do they ever stop to think that they may get more people onboard if they had a reasonable pricing policy?

Non-Believer
Just now, MrPB said: But then the brewery has been getting away with similar practices for decades. That's largely cos there's more places doing breakfasts than there is left selling beer....
gettafa
It's only a bikers breakfast during 1 week of the year, and even then I doubt many actually have breakfast. If it was an award for a cafe with spectacular views etc that bikers go to (once year) then fair enough.
