They are total control freaks and may well be lying, although with it being global they do seem to be living up to the international obligations. The Island is 80K people. If 1/3 get it that is 27K, if 20% are severe that's 5K cases likely needing medical support. 1% fatalities = 270 people. The Island's death rate is 10.2 per 1,000 so usually there are 800 deaths or so per year, so that's a big increase - a 30% increase in yearly deaths. The challenge is how to keep the number of people infected as low as possible.
