swoopy2110
Aer Lingus look to have cancelled the lunchtime Dublin flight on Friday's from Mid-Septebmer onwards (was supposed to end from the end of October), as I've had once cancelled. Knocks on to our connecting flight to the USA 😡 I've asked for details of our options.

So they can book Loganair and expect EasyJet to reimburse it- so long as they don’t ask for a refund. It’s just the compensation on top that’s affected by the reason. They will provide a refund. They were stopped from taking off as far as I understand it

Claiming for reasonable expenses and claiming for compo are different animals. It was outside of their control on our flight. They still have a duty to either get you to your destination, or stump up if you pay for it yourself.

Not if its cancelled before you have started the journey AFAIK This explains it. They either have to get you there or refund your money. They pretty much make it up as they go along these days.

That must be because it was their fault . 26 minutes ago, WTF said: yes, they operate on the what's the least we can get away with paying out model. That's true. But there are clear rules. If it's weather (or other acts of God ) or problems with the airport then it's not their fault and you will only get your refund.

Agree that it seems unfair from the airline point of view but the rule is that they still have to get you back to the IOM or pay you for the additional costs ( even if its due to bad weather ). Most people do not know this and only take the refund 😉 .. I have had my costs reimbursed by easyjet multiple times due to weather cancellations. If your flight is cancelled due to bad weather, you are entitled to the care and assistance set out above, as well as either re-routing at the earliest opportunity or a refund and return to your original departure point. If you receive a refund, that doesn’t mean you can’t claim compensation to make up for your loss of time. https://www.bottonline.co.uk/flight-delay-compensation/claim-guides/flight-compensation-bad-weather#:~:text=EU Regulation 261/2004 states that passengers are entitled to,the departure and arrival airports.
