  1. There are more than enough homes - developers are controlling their own stock to THEIR advantage not to the advantage of the Manx FTB or any average buyer. You continually spout nonsense that because not all the green has been built on it's OK to keep building on it. Its absolutely NOT OK. Once OUR - not YOUR green fields have gone - they've gone. Please do not assume the position of being Manx nor assume to speak for all Manx people. If anything is immoral it is the practice adopted by developers ..which you should be familiar with.
  2. Your definition of conspiracy is different to mine. Will vote of no confidence happen here? I dont know... a straw poll would be interesting
  3. Reality and perception can be quite different. In such things assumptions should not be made - one way or the other,
  4. Of course he refutes it ...carefully crafted press release as you would expect ....
  5. You speak with such authority on how the CM became embroiled in a situation .. are you the CM? there were witnesses you know.
  6. You miss the point ..but that's why you are 'Crazy Dave' ...
  7. The promenade 'upgrade' has basically f*cked Douglas - collectively or individually whichever bit they are responsible for IOMG/DOI or Douglas City Council... the place is a mess. You say scrap the horse trams? ... the last thing we need to do is become an expensive Milton Keynes .. who wants to travel to (via unreliable expensive transport) to get what is already on their doorstep... we need to up our USP not trash it. Other jurisdictions capitalise on the things that make them different not bin them. A cruise ship passenger wishing to experience the unique offering that is eg the Horse tram/electric tram from the arrival port to Laxey or Snaefell has nothing to measure the sound value against - just the experience ... which it appears is becoming priceless..because people like you see no value in it. And of course things like this will appear to fail when eg a request from a cruise ship traveller in the summer looking for tour options was answered by the 'welcome centre' offering to book them a taxi on arrival. Nothing against taxi drivers but just dropping people off at an agreed destination is not a tour. Does not exploit the options available... Businesses on the IOM - finance/gaming etc can up sticks at the click of a mouse... we need to be cognisant of what our natural attraction is and ensure that is supported and maintained.
  8. Its a freaking horse tram!!! not a luxury limousine

It is your opinion. Humble .. not so much. Take a breather .. the world is full of folk with lots of differing abilities and opinions and they may be different to yours, does not make them less able or a lesser person.
  11. They should have been left where they were .... with the upgraded light bulbs. The Prom is cold and uninviting now. Bit of a mess. If the festoon light bulbs were being upgraded what was the rationale for changing to the feeble effort in situ now? The spindly lights would look better where the festoon lights have been placed and put the festoon lights back. Cant help wondering if there wasn't a hint 'virtue signalling' so that rather than just the Tower of Refuge being lit in a specific colour for a specific cause 'somebody' thought it would be much more virtuous to have the whole prom lit up too? ....
  12. For 'Gawd' read 'Idiot' ... there isn't always an appropriate emoji
  13. Confused by your lack of understanding of flood plain. Confused that you dont recall the Lake Road site being flooded ... Tesco, the actual 'shop', may not have been flooded ... but access to it was and I think they had to close early because of it. https://www.facebook.com/EnergyFMIOM/posts/update-report-of-flooding-lake-road-and-tesco-car-park-douglas-parliament-square/10152188056874341/ Hey ho .... apparently you know better

    Firm closing

Maybe use the 'store' as warehouse for picking for delivery and car park for click and collect?
  15. Just aswell nobody was watching the diddly waves yesterday.. you never know what the sea will throw up. Pic from Facebook (Horse tram page)
  16. Author Castletown Town Commissioners Hello, thanks for the concern, there isn't anything sinister as far as we are aware. Unfortunately we couldn't justify the quote for £42,000 for a water proof piano, so we have to accept that gifted pianos absorb water and at some point become unplayable. If there is overwhelming demand we will be able to source another for some half time sing along's during the upcoming rugby screenings.

    MGP 2023

There was an announcement just after 11:30 on Manx Radio (AM - the station the race info is broadcast on) that the roads were closing at 12.30 ... At 11:40 ish when I headed to the Mountain the Matrix signs said TT Course close at 12:30 .... no confusion as far as I can see. The message to re-open the roads was equally clear.
  18. personal opinion .... I had some great times there .... food was good view amazing. Pity its blocked off for offices now

    Firm closing

But you implied it was closing ... 'It would appear that the Ginger hall is the latest casualty'......its not closing!
  20. There was def something mentioned that the emergency chute could not be deployed in rough seas (cant remember what the actual figs were though!).
  21. I think we do know that Romanian gangs are well known for this type of exploitation. Encouraging/allowing it benefits nobody...except those running the gangs
  22. Beggars in the guise of exploitation/people trafficking/organised crime should be hated ... for many reasons. Unfortunately if trafficking gangs see a chink in our amour and get a hold there is no happy ending for anybody.
  23. Chris Thomas is a master of obfuscation ... and within his interactions there is no shortage of apportioning blame to other depts/agencies (and the travelling public for expecting to be able to park and travel from something that resembles an airport) thus in so doing deflecting away from DOI - unfortunately whilst some of the points may well be the case unless somebody gets a grip and tackles the airport as a whole and stops allowing this playground behaviour of blaming everybody else for what is going on eg blaming the DFE for the wrong size trolleys, and the fuel man that went home without refuelling the plane, whoever paints the lines in the car park for making it look like a dogs dinner .. etc etc etc nothing is going to change ... if they cant sort out the small stuff amongst themselves how on earth can they sort out the big stuff! Somebody needs to pull all of these fragmented depts together and get the basics the nuts and bolts of a working airport sorted not a mish mash of Govt Depts ambling along blaming each other with absolutely no leadership. Whilst it may appear to be a win to the IOMG for people to bail and go by boat if people lose faith in air travel altogether this could go horribly wrong for air travel to and from the Island.
  24. A huge amount of jobs being advertised are Govt jobs - the Govt does not need to grow its big enough/too big already! The internal working practices need an overhaul. 'They' seem to think it is efficient eg to have an 'absence team' in the great pit that is OHR. A simple recruitment of one person now has so many people involved who only do one part of the process that nobody really has a grip on the end result. Of course Alf wouldn't reach his target headcount if the CS stopped growing. CS taking people from other areas of employment needlessly. The IOM does NOT need more people we need the right people. We should have controls to ensure we don't swamp the Island with people just so Alf can say he's reached his target headcount before Jersey .... for some reason the offshore jurisdictions seem to be launched headlong down the same path .. out of control increase in population and cover every square inch in Dandara hutches.
